Background: China is a country with a large population. With the aging population and the opening up of the two-child policy, people's expectations of the quality of life and medical serves are constantly increasing, which makes the demand for nursing services gradually diversified. In this process, China's medical resources are still in a state of strain, the shortage of nurses is serious, and the implicit rationing of nursing care in the hospital exists widely.
Aim: The aim of the study was to describe the level of implicit rationing of nursing care in the hospital.
Methods: A total of 100 nurses completed in the questionnaire survey. The Chinese version of the Basel Extent Nursing Care Instrument (BERNCI) and the demographic questionnaire were used. The data was analyzed by SPSS 23.0.
Result: The total score of the questionnaire was 0-63, and in our study, the maximum score was 61, the minimum score was 0, the mean score was 18.5. It is showed that “activities of daily livings” was the most easily overlooked in the nursing work. Medical department had the highest level of implicit rationing of nursing care.
Conclusion: Study showed that there was a high level of implicit rationing of nursing care in terms of “activities of daily livings”. Besides, the level of missed care varied from department to department, with medical department being the highest.
