Background: The number of older people around the world is expected to continue togrow, as is the need for their care. With the obvious and historically unprecedentedtrend of population aging, research on aging and related diseases has receivedincreasing attention. Horticultural Therapy, as a relatively easy to implementintervention that can use interaction with living things to achieve specific therapeuticgoals, is very popular in positively improving the quality of life of older adults. Objective: This descriptive literature review aims to describe the therapeutic effects ofhorticulture on the quality of life of the older adults. Methods: By searching PubMed database thirteen scientific articles with a quantitativeapproach were selected, summarized and a result containing three effects were found. Results: Through various screening, 13 articles were finally included in this study. Wedivided our findings on three effects of Horticultural Therapy on the quality of life ofolder adults into three themes: physiological effects, psychological effects and socialeffects. The results showed that Horticultural Therapy received almost positivefeedback in the three areas. Conclusion: Horticultural Therapy can improve the quality of life of older people, bothphysically, psychologically, and socially. Due to the lack of strong evidence to drawdefinitive conclusions, more research is needed to improve the impact of HorticulturalTherapy on the quality of life of older adults. Keywords: Horticultural Therapy, Older Adults, Quality of Life
