Tänk dig afro, ett fluffigt moln som omringar ansiktet likt en vacker ram eller en mänsklig version av en lejonman. Problemet är att till skillnad från ett fluffigt moln eller en lejonman, är afro svårt att upprätthålla. Det tar lång tid att lära sig hur man ska ta hand om afro, och när man väl har lärt sig att ta hand om det på rätt sätt, så kräver det fortfarande en god ekonomi och fulladdade batteri.

Med hjälp av en designprocess har ett koncept tagits fram för att göra det enklare att ta hand om hårtypen afro. Diskussion om identitet, acceptans och kunskap ligger till grund för arbetets resultat, och en förhoppning är att diskussionen öppnar nya möjligheter för att skapa en normalitet kring hårtypen afro. Kanske kommer du, en vacker dag, se någon på din skärm som pratar om Easy, Breezy, Beautiful Afro. 

Afro is a hair type with a lot of volume, a curly texture and great strength. Too often is it mistreated by its owner because of lacking knowledge and or experience. But do not get it twisted, the hair has a lot of good qualities if it gets treated like it should. In this project, a concept was made to reduce the problems of afro and bring easy access information. With a design process including researching, analysis and developing, the final product solved the big problem.

Is it possible to make it easier to take care of afro?Can one successfully maintain afro without putting health at risk?

There is a need to accept it. The hair type needs to be seen as normality and by getting it in to cosmetology schools, books and commercials in Sweden, the goal is for afro to always become associated with easy, breezy and beautiful.
