Investigations concerning adolescent mental health shows a negative development. Many pre-vious studies have focused on young women's mental health. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate young men's (17-19 years) experience of their mental health. Qualitative interviews were used as a method. The participants were six young men who all go to high school in a major municipality in the county of Gävleborg. The results showed that all infor-mants had a useful contact to turn to when problems and that nearly all had a good sleep. Half of the respondents did not seek help for problems or illness, while half would seek medical care for serious illness. For the young men stress was mostly linked to their studies and three of the informants had chosen to stay at home from school because of fatigue. All respondents used alcohol, but did not end up into threatening situations. A majority of respondents said that body image was important, but that it was all about feeling good. The conclusion of this result was that all respondents claimed to have good self-esteem and a good mental health.
