The aim of this paper is to explore selected theoretical perspectives on the body. The perspectives selected focus on concepts such as disciplined and medicalized bodies. Further, they are based in gender-/feminist theory, and/or discourse analysis. They also deal with questions of the body as materiality or social construction, the mind/body-split, and the concept of embodiment. The exploration into these perspectives will result in a construction of an analytical framework to analyze embodiment, from a gender perspective, in educational health interventions targeting diet and physical activity in adults.
