Health promoting leadership – more than just a fruit basket? : A quality study about health promoting leadership within the public social sector. (English)
Abstract [en]

This study aims to obtain an increased knowledge about experiences of leadership among employees in workplaces that focus on a health promoting leadership. The purpose of this study was to examine this issue in relations to the employees experiences of obstacles and opportunities in the health promoting work. In our study we performed four quality interviews with persons active within the public sector. The result of the study has there after been analyzed with the help of Antonovskys analytic method – KASAM and system theory. The most important results observed from our questions are that these respondents experience support from their colleagues and manager, though some of them underline that the support fails when it comes to stress and high workload. The majority of the respondents experienced high participation and influence at the working place while others did not experience this within the organisation. Another important factor that is revealed from our result is that more frequent dialogues with the employees, where you systematically discuss the working environment, seems to give positive effect on the indivduals´ health which confirms the importance of systematical health promoting environmental work.

Abstract [sv]

Denna studie syftar till att ge en ökad kunskap om upplevelser av ledarskap bland medarbetare på arbetsplatser där fokus är riktat mot hälsofrämjande ledarskap. Detta skulle undersökas i förhållande till medarbetarnas upplevelser av hinder och möjligheter i det hälsofrämjande arbetet. I studien genomfördes fyra kvalitativa intervjuer med personer verksamma inom offentlig verksamhet. Studiens resultat har sedan analyserats med hjälp av Antonovskys analysverktyg KASAM samt systemteori. De viktigaste resultaten utifrån givna frågeställningar är att dessa intervjupersoner upplever stöd från sina kollegor och chefer, några påtalar dock att stödet brister vid stress eller hög arbetsbelastning. Övervägande del av intervjupersonerna upplevde hög delaktighet och inflytande på arbetsplatsen medan merparten inte upplevde detta inom organisationen. En annan viktig faktor utifrån resultatet är att tätare medarbetarsamtal där man tar upp arbetsmiljö systematiskt verkar ge positiv effekt på individens hälsa vilket bekräftar vikten av systematiskt hälsofrämjande arbetsmiljöarbete.
