2008 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 points / 15 hpStudent thesis
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was, based on scientific literature to describe the perioperative care from the perspective of the patient and the operating room nurse. The method was a descrip-tive literary study using qualitative and quantities studies published during the last 10 years. The article search was carried out in the following medical databases: Academic Search Elite, Medline and Chinal. The studies are from countries all over the world such as Australia, Eng-land and Finland. The result of this study shows that a continuous care is formed when the patient and the operating room nurse cooperate in the planning, carrying out and evaluation of the patients care in connection with an operation. The care is experienced as comforting and secure when the same operating room nurse cares for the patient before, during and after the operation. The patient also feels that they are seen and treated with respect. The operating room nurse experiences satisfaction and personal development in her profession.
