Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to investigate using a quantative method whether there was a difference between newly graduated nurses who were required to complete an introductory program compared to those that were not regarding demand, control and social support. The newly graduated nurses came from two different hospitals where one group had an introductory program in place and the other one did not, a group of nurses who worked for five years or more from each hospital were also investigated. The study used the questionnaire Demand Control Swedish Questionnaire (DCSQ) and was answered by a total of 104 nurses. The result showed no significant difference between the groups of newly graduated nurses in their perceived psychosocial work environment. The only significant difference was between the experience groups, where the newly graduated nurses experienced higher demands than the nurses who worked for five years or more. The result was then analysed about whether an introduction for the newly graduated nurses should consist of a program or be individually adapted.
