Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund Diabetes mellitus typ 2 är en sjukdom som ökar i världen och drabbar allt yngre personer. Det finns mycket som patienterna själva kan göra för att påverka sjukdomen i form av egenvård till exempel fysisk aktivitet. Syfte Syftet var att beskriva effekten av fysisk aktivitet för vuxna patienter med diabetes mellitus typ 2. Metod Detta var en litteraturstudie där 11 originalartiklar med kvantitativ ansats granskades och analyserades. Huvudresultat Fysisk aktivitet förbättrade både kroppsliga funktioner, biomedicinska markörer samt livskvaliteten hos patienterna. Resultaten påverkades av träningsform och intensitet av fysisk aktivitet de utövade. Blodsockersänkande läkemedel hämmade de goda resultaten av den fysiska aktiviteten. Slutsats Fysisk aktivitet var en effektiv behandlingsform där de mest gynnsamma resultaten visade sig. Effekten berodde på träningsform, intensitet och patientens följsamhet. Sjuksköterskans kan ha en betydelsefull roll när det kom till att motivera, informera och stötta patienter mot en hälsosammare livsstil.

Abstract [en]

Background Diabetes mellitus type 2 is a condition that is increasing in the world and targets the youth. There is much that the patients can do themselves to influence the disease in form of self-care, for example through physical activity. Aim The aim was to describe the effect of physical activity on adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method This was a literature study in which 11 original articles with a quantitative approach had been reviewed and analyzed. Results Physical activity improved both bodily functions, biomedical markers and patients’ quality of life. The results were influenced by the type of exercise and intensity of physical activity they practiced. Hypoglycemic drug inhibited the good results of physical activity. Conclusion Physical activity was a effective form of treatment where the most favorable results were shown. The effect depended on the form of exercise, intensity and the patients’ compliance. As a nurse it can be important to motivate, inform and support the patients towards a healthier lifestyle.
