Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The study’s purpose was to investigate whether the factors demand, control and social support could predict perceived stress at work by teachers, and whether there was any difference in the experience of stress between preschool and primary school teachers. The study was conducted at an organization within Gävleborg. The data was collected via a digital survey and analyzed by a multiple regression. The results showed that demands, social support and profession significantly could predict perceived stress in teachers. The results also showed that there was a difference between the professions, which was smaller in size. Previous research has shown that demands, control and social supports have an effect on perceived stress at work, which this study partly confirm. For the current organization it should be considered positive that there was no major difference between the professions. Although this study has not investigated whether the professions can be considered stressed.
