Background: The postpartum period, or puerperium, is an extremely important processin a woman's life, leading to changes in all aspects of her life and having a significantimpact on her physical and mental health. This is also a time of very high morbidity andmortality among women.Aim: The aim of the review is to describe the experience of nurses providing care forpuerperium women.Methods: This review was based on relevant English articles from 2012-2022, thatwere retrieved by a selective search in PubMed, Cinahl, and PsycINFO databases.Results: The nurse's experience in providing care to women during the puerperal periodshowed that the provision of educational counselling, health guidance and psychologicalcare contributed to the physical and mental health of puerperal women. However, themain factors affecting nurses' nursing quality were unfavorable working environmentand lack of medical resources, lack of nurses' professional knowledge and teamworkability.Conclusions: It is important for nurses to be aware of the common symptoms andtypical diseases of the puerperal period, to make full use of limited resources, and toprovide timely physical and mental care for women during the puerperal period.Key words: care, experience, nurse, postpartum period, puerperium
