Abstract [en]

Energy prices are of great concern for homeowners and companies, and theimplementation of energy efficiency measures has gained importance in recentyears as means of mitigating these costs. Energy surveys are useful to analyzeand tackle energy inefficiencies, with a focus on the primary issues and theidentification of solutions. The objective of this project was to conduct an energy survey of a 1971 villa inÄlvkarleby with the aim of identifying the main contributors to energy lossesand proposing measures through a quantitative approach. This involvedcollecting data from the rooms, manual calculations, and the use of asimulation model of the dwelling. Results show that the primary sources of energy loss in the dwelling are theenvelope components, particularly the basement walls and windows. Whilethese issues should be addressed, both options are not economically viable in a15-year period. However, the installation of a ground source heat pump(GSHP) and photovoltaic (PV) panels yielded a net profit over a 15-yearperiod. The implementation of these systems resulted in an annual saving of13 005 SEK. Moreover, the final use of electricity from the grid for heatingpurposes is 6.2 MWh/year, which represents a reduction of almost 76 %compared to the previous purchased energy.
