Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka socialarbetares förståelse av ensamkommande barns integration i det svenska samhället och de tillvägagångssätt olika aktörer, däribland socialarbetare, har när de arbetar med detta. Metoden som vi valde att använda var kvalitativ intervju och för att analysera resultaten använde vi oss av systemteori och empowerment. Resultaten visar att språk, skola och en meningsfull fritid var viktiga delar för barnens integration i samhället. Socialarbetarna i vår studie uppgav att de inte arbetar praktiskt med barnens integration, att det är boendepersonalen/familjehemmet och de gode männen som ansvarar för detta. Viktiga slutsatser i studien var att intresset för de ensamkommande barnen var svagt från samhällets sida och att socialarbetarna ansåg att de dokument som används inte alltid var anpassade för de ensamkommande barnen. Ytterligare en slutsats var att socialarbetarna ansåg att dokumenten inte alltid följdes väl av de aktörer som arbetade närmast barnen.

The purpose of this study was to seek information about social workers understanding of unaccompanied children´s integration in to the Swedish society and the approaches different participants, amongst them social workers, had when they conducted this work. The data was gathered by qualitative interviews. We analyzed the interview results by proceeding from systems theory and empowerment. The results of the study showed language, education and meaningful leisure were important parts of the unaccompanied children's integration into the society. According to the interviewed social workers, they did not work in practice with the children's integration; this was the responsibility of the staff at the accommodations/foster home and the trustees. Important conclusions drawn from this study were that the society showed a weak interest in the unaccompanied children and that the social workers considered the documents in use were not always suitable for the unaccompanied children. Another conclusion was that the socialworkers considered the documents not always being followed by those who worked close to the children.
