Abstract [sv]

 Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka och försöka förstå vilka kulturmöten som är synliga på en mellansvensk gymnasieskola, hur personalen upplever dem och hur de handskas med de problematiska kulturmöten som uppstår. I studien, som är en kvalitativ empirisk studie, har jag intervjuat sex olika personer ur personalen på en mellansvensk gymnasieskola.

Resultatet visar att de kulturmöten och krockar som var mest förekommande, inte är de mellan människor med olika etiskt ursprung. Det visade sig att det fanns många andra slags kulturmöten. De kultyryttringar som här nämndes var till exempel musikkultur, klädkultur, matkultur, ungdomskultur för att nämna några.

Slutsatsen av studien visar att de intervjuade personerna är positiva till kulturell mångfald och de upplever inte ”krockar” som något stort problem. Personalen hanterar de problematiska mötena med positiv attityd, förståelse, flexibilitet och uppfinningsrikedom.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate and try to understand the cultural encounters that are visible in a mid-Swedish upper secondary school, how staffs perceive them and how they deal with the problematic cultural encounters that occur. The study is a qualitative study where I interviewed six members of the school staff.

The result shows that the cultural encounters and clashes are not most prevalent among people of different ethnic origin. It turned out that there are many other kinds of cultural encounters for example music culture, fashion culture, food culture and youth culture, to name a few. The conclusion of this investigation shows that the people interviewed are in favour of cultural diversity and does not see cultural clash as a big problem. The staff handles the challenging meetings with a positive attitude, understanding, flexibility and inventiveness.
