Syftet med studien var att beskriva hur skolsköterskan reflekterar runt sitt arbete med sex och samlevnadsfrågor bland högstadieelever. Studien genomfördes som en kvalitativ intervjustudie med deskriptiv design. Intervjuerna genomfördes med tio skolsköterskor och materialet analyserades utifrån en kva­litativ innehållsanalys. Resultatet av studien resulterade i tre kategorier Samarbete underlättar sex och samlevnadsarbetet, utmaningar i arbetet med sex och samlevnad och för lite sex och samlevnad i skolsköterskans obligatoriska arbete. Skolsköterskorna beskrev att de önskade mer samarbete med biologilärare och kuratorer, samt att de ville ha mer tid för sex och sam­levnadsundervisning i klasserna. De beskrev också en upplevelse av att samarbetet med per­sonalen på ungdomsmottagningarna i de aktuella kommunerna fungerade bra. Skolsköters­korna upplevde att de i sex och samlevnadsarbetet ställdes inför utmaningar varje dag, ef­tersom elevernas kunskaper skilde sig åt. Mycket av elevernas kunskaper var införskaffade via internet och skolsköterskorna upplevde att den kunskapen inte alltid stämde överrens med verkligheten. Skolsköterskorna ansåg att sex och samlevnadsunder­visningen skulle tidigare­läggas och vara kontinuerlig över tid, att det skulle ingå i flera årskur­sen än bara årskurs sex och åtta.  Det obligatoriska arbetet med sex och samlevnad upplevdes av skolsköterskorna vara för lite för att kunna preventionsarbeta i de lägre klasserna.

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to describe how the school health nurse reflects about their work with sex and relationships among school students. The study was conducted as a qualitative interview study with de­scriptive design. The interviews were conducted with ten school nurses and the material was analyzed by qualitative content analysis. The results of the study resulted in three categories Collaboration facilitates sex and relationships work, challenges in work with sex and relation­ships and too little sex education in the school nurse's mandatory work. School nurses stated that they wanted more cooperation with biology teachers and counselors, and that they wanted more time for sex and relationships education in classes. They also described an experience of cooperation with the staff of youth centers in the municipalities worked fine. School nurses felt that they were in sex education efforts faced challenges every day, because students' knowledge dif­fered. Much of students' knowledge was acquired via the Internet and school nurses felt that this knowledge did not always corresponds with reality. School nurses felt that sex education should be brought forward, and be continuous over time; it would be included in several grades beyond grade six and eight. The mandatory work on sex and relationships experienced by school nurses is too little to do prevention work in the lower classes.
