Abstract [sv]

Syftet med studien var att beskriva hur personer med diabetes upplevde sin sjukdom utifrån kultur och hur sjuksköterskan kunde bemöta dessa olika personer. Metoden var en beskrivande litteraturstudie baserad på 10 vetenskapligt granskade artiklar. Resultatet visade att det fanns kulturella skillnader i upplevelsen av sjukdomen som i stort baserades på religion och tro. Det har även visat sig att det fanns obalans i mötet mellan personen och sjuksköterskan. För att balansera mötet behövde sjuksköterskan bland annat ta sig tid att lära känna personen.

Slutsats: det är viktigt att sjuksköterskan har kunskap om att det finns kulturella och individuella skillnader i upplevelsen av sjukdomen. Om sjuksköterskan har den kunskapen kan det underlätta informationsutbytet. 

Abstract [en]

The aim of the study was to describe how people with diabetes experienced his illness based on culture and how nurse can respond to these people. The method was a descriptive literature review based on 10 peer-reviewed articles. The results showed that there were cultural differences in the experiences of the disease which is based on religion and belief. It has also become apparent that there were an imbalance in the meeting between the person and the nurse.

In order to balance the meeting need to nurse, among other things, take the time to get to know the person.

Conclusion

It is important to nurse have knowledge that there are cultural and individual differences in the experience of the disease. If the nurse has the know-how, it can facilitate the exchange of information.
