Abstract [sv]

Syfte: Att se om patientens kön och kulturella bakgrund har betydelse vid sjuksköterskans bedömning av smärta. Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie. Artikelsökning med söktermer som utgick från syfte och frågeställningar. Sökning av artiklar gjordes via databaserna Cinahl och PubMed. Urvalet av de 13artiklarna bestämdes genom granskning av artiklarnas titel och abstrakt för att senare granskas i sin helhet. Resultat: Sju av studierna visar att patientens kön har betydelse för hur sjuksköterskan bedömer smärta. En av studierna berörande kön visar motsatsen. Sex av studierna behandlar ämnet kulturell bakgrund där fem av dessa talar för att det har betydelse för sjuksköterskans bedömning medan en av dessa tar upp att det inte har någon betydelse. Resultaten kommer ifrån olika delar av världen under samma tidsperiod. Slutsats: Patientens kön och kulturella bakgrund har betydelse i sjuksköterskans bedömning och behandling av smärta, dock visar två artiklar att inte några skillnader kunde påvisas. Mer djupgående studier behövs för att få ett mer omfattande resultat

Abstract [en]

Aim: To see if the patient's gender and cultural background are important in the nurse's assessment of pain. Method: A descriptive literature study. Article Search with search terms that were based on purpose and the research questions and conducted in the databases PubMed and Cinahl. The sample of 13 articles were determined by examining the articles title and abstract for a later examination of the hole content. Results: Seven of the studies showed that patient’s gender is relevant to how nurses assess pain. One of the studies regarding gender reviles the opposite. Six of the studies described the subject cultural background were five of them revealed that the subject was important for the nurse's assessment, while the result in one article showed that it had no significance. The results came from different parts of the world during the same period. Conclusion: The patient's gender and cultural background are important in nursing assessment and treatment of pain, however, two articles revealed that no differences could be detected. More in-depth studies are needed to obtain a more comprehensive result.
