Abstract [en]

Abstract

This research project deals with the experiences of children of immigrants in Sweden regarding biculturalism and personal identity. Using a method of qualitative interviewing we aim at answering the following research question: What effects of biculturalism have children of immigrants in Sweden experienced? What perceptions do children of immigrants have regarding the effects of biculturalism on their personal identity? This study uses the social identity theory approach as a framework for the analysis because it helps explain how the social context can affect identity formation.

Key words: children of immigrants, identity, biculturalism, ethnical identity.
