The present literature study shows that the factors that influence nurses' attitude towards the patient group is experience, education, age and gender. Conclusion:It turned out that the nurses' experiences and preferences were more positive if the nurses received training on self-injurious behavior. There were judgmental attitudes towards patients who self-harm from the nurses, the most prominent was that they perceived the patients as manipulative and attention-seeking. More research is needed in order to meet the growing patient population. If the care of these patients should be better it requires that the nurses increase their knowledge of self-harm.
