The impact of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for real estate students and teacher students (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to compare intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors between real estate students and teacher students. The study also aimed to examine whether there were any sign of group polarization, after real estate students and teacher students spending time with like-minded people. The study was conducted on real estate and teaching students at a university in Sweden. The instrument used were Work Preference Inventory (WPI), which is an established form to measure self-perceived intrinsic and extrinsic work motivation. A total of 101 students participated in the survey. The result showed that real estate students were more driven by extrinsic motivation factors than teacher students. The result did not show that teacher students were more driven by intrinsic motivation or any sign of group polarization.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka inre och yttre motivationsfaktorer mellan mäklarstudenter och lärarstudenter. Studien syftade också till att undersöka huruvida det fanns några tecken på gruppolarisering, efter att mäklar- och lärarstudenter hade spenderat sin studietid med likasinnade. Studien genomfördes på mäklar- och lärarstudenter på en högskola i Sverige. Mätinstrumentet som användes var Work Preference Inventory (WPI), som är ett etablerat formulär för att mäta självskattad inre och yttre arbetsmotivation. Totalt deltog 101 studenter i enkätundersökningen. Resultatet visade att mäklarstudenter i större utsträckning drivs av yttre motivationsfaktorer än lärarstudenter. Resultatet visade inte att lärare motiveras mer av inre motivation eller att det fanns några tecken på gruppolarisering.
