    Abstract [en]

    In many applications of image processing there is a need to extract the solid background which it is usually sky for outdoor images. In our application we present this solution. We developed an automatic algorithm for detection and extraction of sky regions in the color image based on color classification. In which the input image should be in the RGB color space and the blue color is detected and classified. Then the color image is transformed to the binary form and the connected regions are extracted separately. The connected regions are then sorted in a descending order according to the biggest area and the biggest region is identified. Then we merged all objects that have similar sky properties. Experimental results showed that our proposed algorithm can produce good results compared to other existing algorithms.

    Abstract [sv]

    Planeringsarbeten för infrastruktur sker ofta med hjälp av speciella programvaror som CAD för att skapa ritningar på kartor över områden där tänkta infrastrukturer skall utvecklas. Som en effektivisering för dessa arbeten handlar denna studie om implementering av en GIS-applikation för att motivera fördelar med GIS och sättet för hantering samt visualisering av geografisk information. En webbapplikation som hanterar baskartor samt överliggande vektorlager för infrastruktur utvecklas, samt även att samma kartdata över infrastrukturen kopplas till en mobilapplikation för att effektivisera eventuella inventeringsarbeten av infrastrukur med hjälp av GPS för att kunna positionera infrastruktur på ett bra sätt. Tekniken bakom utvecklingen bygger på HTML, CSS och JavaScript samt molntjänstlagrin av infrastruktursdata i en geodatabas . GIS-applikationen sammanställer svar på frågor som bevisar hur GIS på ett tillfredställande sätt mycket väl skulle kunna implementeras och användas praktiskt i ett utvecklingsarbete för infrastruktur i dagens morderna samhälle.

    Abstract [en]

    This study investigates augmented reality using third person perspective and what precision can be achieved by using this method. There have been prior studies in regards to precision using augmented reality, however studies using third person perspective is scarce. This study presents a solution using a static camera capturing the user as well as the plane to augment from behind. This augmented image is then transferred to a handheld device that is held by the user. Using this method the user will be free to manipulate and work with the plane without removing the device that captures the scene, a common problem when using visual reference markers in augmented reality. The study successfully shows that this can be implemented without compromising user experience as well as achieving a precision below 13 millimeters. The AR-tool has been proven to reduce time consumption of the task by up to four times compared to the manual method using a folding ruler.

    A user study is conducted to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of two types of visualizations to identify damage sites in case of disaster. The test consists out 36 trials (18 for each visualisation) and in each trial an area of 1x1km, located in Ghent, is displayed on a screen. This image shows the combined height information from before and after the disaster. The first visualisation, page flipping, is based on greyscale images with height information from the pre- and post-disaster situation between which users can switch manually. The second visualisation, difference image, is a result of subtracting the heights (before versus after) and assigning a blue-white-red colour ramp. In order to simulate the urgency with which the data is captured, systematic and random imperfections are introduced in the post-disaster data. All participants’ mouse and key interactions are logged, which is further complemented by the registration of their eye movements. This give insights the visualizations’ efficiency, effectiveness and the overall search strategies of the participants.

    IP-adresserna under IPv4 är inte tillräckliga och har på många delar i världen redan tagit slut. IPv6 erbjuder många fler tillgängliga adresser och övergången till protokollet har redan börjat. Det Gävlebaserade företaget Interlan erbjuder en tjänst som kontrollerar om kommuner och myndigheter i de nordiska länderna är nåbara via IPv6 samt om de är säkrade med DNSSEC. Denna rapport beskriver jobbet med att förbättra och göra deras tjänst anpassningsbar för flera länder. Processen som beskrivs är parametriseringen av skripten som samlar data, skapandet av en databas att lagra data i, och ändringar till hur data presenteras så att det går att lägga till flera länder.

    Abstract [en]

    Sandvik IT Services (SITS) ambition is to provide a smooth and suitable IT environment for the whole Sandvik organization. The idea is that SITS should provide end-to-end solutions globally in an efficient manner. To ensure that they can provide this, they have to be efficient in their work. To handle problems regarding incident and support, they have a large TV screen that shows important information about different processes. The demand for the information has increased; therefore the information displayed on the screen has also increased. Today, the amount of information on the screen is too big and it makes the information difficult to read and absorb. This work will help make SITS application management more effective in the future. Through Workshops for both managers and developers, it is necessary to find out the difference of what SITS requires to diversify priority information. And also be able to view the information in a user-friendly way, a layout of the information is suggested. The result of this work is to produce a design proposal.

    Abstract [en]

    In order to introduce the environment of the University of Gävle to the new students, an efficient way is needed. Among many different methods of helping new students get familiar with university, a Digital Education Game could be a good option. The aim of this research is to test if new students can learn more about University of Gävle when they are learning through a Digital Education Game. This research was mainly based on five methods. Before creating the game, a theoretical framework was built in the beginning, and then interviews and surveys were performed to get useful information. Next, a Digital Education Game was created through the platform e-Adventure. Finally, evaluations of this game were performed. The findings of this research were that according to the result of evaluating surveys, after players played this game, they were able to provide more correct answers than before. The conclusion could be drawn from this research was that new students could learn more about University of Gävle by playing a Digital Education Game.
