    Abstract [sv]

    Denna studie handlar om attityder och uppfattningar av äldreomsorgen, statustrappan, immanent pedagogik samt skolverkets läroplan. Syftet var att undersöka elever på vård- och omsorgsprogrammets uppfattningar av arbetet inom äldreomsorgen. Studien genomfördes genom en fokusgrupp där fyra elever från vård- och omsorgsprogrammets sista läsår utgjorde studiens respondenter. Fenomenografin som ansats fungerade som en stöttepelare genom de centrala delarna, så som syfte, frågeställning, metod och analys. Fokusgruppens samtal varade under två timmar där två fallbeskrivningar utgjorde underlag för diskussion, datamaterialet transkriberades och analyserades sedan. Resultatet innebar att sju olika uppfattningar hittades, de presenteras i varsin beskrivningskategori där uppfattningen beskrivs. Dessa sju är; ”En plats där livet slutat”, ”att visa respekt skapar värdighet”, ”ett enkelt arbete”, ”inget framtidsyrke”, ”förebilder och positiva erfarenheter stärker vårdyrket”, ”status bidrar till (o)intresse” och ”gymnasieutbildningen har betydelse för yrkesutövandet”. Respondenterna uppfattade inte äldreomsorgen som ett attraktivt framtidsyrke, de menade att vem som helst kunde utföra arbetsuppgifterna och att det var en stor anledning till att de hade andra framtidsplaner.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to explore if young women aged 18-20 years experienced that Instagram affected their body image, their physical activity and their eating habits in relation to the phenomenon orthorexia. The method for the study was a qualitative content analysis based on semi-structured interviews with four young women with the age of 18-20 years old. The results showed that Instagram affected young women's body image, their physical activity and their eating habits. Primarily body image and physical activity were most affected, eating habits were less affected. The results showed that there were both a positive and a negative impact, but by far a negative impact. Respondents experienced feelings like anxiety and guilt when, for example, a training session did not go as planned or after they had eaten an unhealthy meal. Their mindset and emotions that came forward in the results were partly linked to the phenomenon of orthorexia. The young women were adversely affected by the pictures and videos on Instagram and also by other social media. They exposed themselves to develop mental and physical ill health. Society should consider prioritizing the young women to prevent them from falling into the mindset that is similar to the phenomenon of orthorexia.

    Abstract [en]

    Urbanization combined with toxic emissions from motor traffic calls forhigher demands when house planning in cities. The purpose of this study is toincrease understanding about how to apply multi criteria analyses whenmaster planning to contribute to a more sustainable society. A more effectivehouse planning connected to existing societal functions might add to the usageof more sustainable transportation alternatives rather than that of cars.

    Using the input from interviews with representatives from both the privateand the public sector, a number of criterias have been developed for theanalysis. Considering existing societal functions, this study was intended toidentify new areas for housing development using a multi criterial analysis.This might contribute to more sustainable transportation because of thedistance to the societal functions. In addition to this, the intention extended tothe investigation of how political interests differs from one another, using aranking system based on the developed criterias.

    The results show that representatives from the two largest political parties in asmall town in Sweden rank the criterias different when it comes to whatsocietal functions a new housing area should have in close proximity. On theother hand, the end results show that the areas chosen for housingdevelopment have similar qualities, in spite of varying housing politics amongthe politicians. This study might contribute to a more effective politicalhandling of business, since political differences does not ultimately showdifferences in where activities or objects should be placed.

    Utgångspunkten för min studie har varit att se på ur vilket perspektiv Islam behandlas i tre västerländska nyhetskanaler eller nyhetsprogram. De tre undersökta nyhetskanalerna har varit Euronews, Aktuellt och TV4s nyheter. Undersökningen har gjorts under mars månad år 2000. Ett nyhetsprogram från var och en av de tre kanalerna spelades in varje dag.

    För att en korrekt tolkning skall ha varit möjlig har jag vidare studerat en mängd litteratur. En del har behandlat vad Islam är, medan annan litteratur behandlat hur media använder olika stereotyper och schablonsbilder när de skall beskriva ett nyhetsfenomen. När det gäller mediabilden så förekommer det i arbetet en separat punkt som just behandlar media och dess bilder av verkligheten. En annan kompletterande litteratur har rört ämnet "orientalism" vilket kan beskrivas som ett specifikt sätt att beskriva Orienten på. Detta har föranlett att en separat punkt med ämnet "orientalism" finns i mitt arbete.

    Vidare innehåller arbetet en enkätundersökning utförd på Högskolan i Gävle 000828. I enkäten frågas om olika ords värdeladdning. Nästan samtliga ord som förekom i enkäten har en anknytning till ett islamiskt sammanhang.

    Mina slutsatser i mitt arbete är att rollen som finns inom Ithna Ashery inte är homogeniserad när man jämför olika individers subjektiva upplevelse av fenomenet. Däremot om man tittar på en metanivå så kan deras roll se tämligen lika ut. Men på individnivå, som detta arbete försökt behandla, så är den subjektiva upplevelsen av rollerna olika. Det som till stor grad påverkar den subjektiva upplevelse av rollen är sådana saker som den omgivande kontexten i samhället. Men även de mål den enskilda individen har med sin roll när det gäller framtiden för individen. Det kan till exempel vara att skapa sig en dräglig tillvaro i en kommande framtid. Det religiösa motivet kan således vara sekundärt när det gäller individens val av det religiösa yrket.

    En annan slutsats är att det i viss mån krävs mer av en religiös ledare inom Ithna Ashery i Sverige för att följa den utstakade teologiska vägen än för en religiös representant i Iran. Detta kan även gälla för den enskilda församlingsmedlemmen, då samhället i Sverige är sekulariserat. Konsekvensen blir att den religiösa ledaren i Sverige får uppta tid med att förklara vad som är exempelvis tillåten mat (halal) utifrån de religiösa föreskrifter som finns i koranen. Arbetet med att förklara för en församlingsmedlem vad som är tillåtet respektive förbjudet behöver inte en representant för Ithna Ashery i Iran lägga så mycket tid på. Det är för att hela den omgivande kontexten för religionsutövaren i Iran redan är anpassad och styrd av vad som är det rätta livet enligt Islam.

    Aim: The aim of the study was to compare food-, sleep-, and physical activity habits among high school students in relation to morning- or evening type (Chronotype). Methods: In a cross-sectional study data were collected by use of a questionnaire comprising 24 questions concerning the participants´ food-, sleep-, and physical activity habits. The questionnaire was distributed to 77 students. A total of 77 (100%) individuals, 41 males and 36 females, participated in the study. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and comparative chi-square test. Results: Students were divided into two groups; morningtypes (n= 23) and evening types (n= 54). Morningness was associated with sufficient sleep and sleep of good quality during weekdays compared with eveningness. Morning types also tend to eat breakfast more often before school than evening types. Evening types showed a higher physical activity level. Conclusions: Chronotype was associated lifestyle among students in vocational secondary school year one. Early school start does not benefit adolescents that are evening types and it has a negative impact on sleep- and food habits.

    Abstract [en]

    The increased specialization of human-welfare organizations put higher demands on collaboration. People with substance abuse often have a complex set of problems that requires collaboration. The purpose of our study was to increase knowledge about the meaning and perception of collaboration around clients with addiction problems. We used a qualitative research method, with data based on interviews with four social workers. Themes were identified in the data and then analysed in relation to the social constructionism, system theory and previous research. We found that collaboration depends largely on the individual social worker’s willingness and persistence to lead the case, for the client’s entire needs. Collaboration was mainly perceived as something important and essential. Organizational barriers and shortcomings were mentioned, but aspects such as working culture, approaches, relationships and respect were considered to be of greater importance. The main conclusion in our study was that collaboration is seen as highly relevant and something positive.

    Denna utredning visar att förekomsten av mobilapplikationer specifikt riktade till dyslektiker är i det närmaste obefintlig. Dessutom är forskningen på området M-Learning mest inriktad på integrerade M-Learning-system och inte på enskilda applikationer. M-Learning (mobilt lärande) är ett forskningsområde som kan sägas vara en vidareutveckling av E-Learning. Detta är ett växande forskningsområde och med explosionen av smarta telefoner och surfplattor bör för- och nackdelarna med  M-Learning kunna utnyttjas i större utsträckning. På uppdrag av Gävle kommun och med handledning av Sogeti har en prototyp mobilapplikation för elever med dyslexi utvecklats för Android-plattformen. Prototypen som framtagits visar att en mobilapplikation för elever med dyslexi med fördel kan utnyttja mobila enheters multimodalitet.

    I den här uppsatsen undersöks förekomsten av sammanskrivningar i blogg-respektive nättidningstexter. En sammanskrivning innebär att två eller fler ord som bör separeras från varandra skrivs ihop utan mellanrum. Med hjälp av i huvudsak Språkrådets lista över fasta uttryck i Svenska skrivregler har vi manuellt genomsökt fyra av de mest besökta bloggarna i Sverige samt krönikor/kolumner och recensioner från tre välkända nättidningar efter sammanskrivningar som strider mot språkvårdens rekommendationer.Den kvantitativa studien gör gällande att sammanskrivningar är drygt åtta gånger mer frekventa i bloggar jämfört med i tidningstexter. I diskussionen konstateras att problemet med sammanskrivningar är av den mildare graden eftersom en normstridande (i förhållande till de rekommendationer som språkvården ger) sådan sällan påverkar kontexten i någon större utsträckning. Vidare når vi slutsatsen att de rekommendationer som språkvården ger trots allt är för vaga, med alldeles för många undantagsfall.

    Syftet med den här uppsatsen var att undersöka några elevers sätt att beskriva motivation. Hur de själva formulerar, definierar och uppfattar motivation. Skolan har i uppgift att förmedla kunskap samt skapa förutsättningar så att eleverna kan tillägna sig och utvecklar kunskap (Lpf 94). Till detta krävs att miljön är lärande och motiverande, men vad innebär egentligen det? Går det att påverka motivationen och hur gör man det i så fall? Motivation har blivit definierat och hanterat på många olika sätt genom åren och beskrivs av Giota (2002) som en av de svåraste uppgifter inom pedagogiken. För att få en förståelse om hur unga människor resonerar kring begreppet motivation genomfördes halvstrukturerade intervjuer med sex stycken elever på gymnasiet. Uppsatsen har inspirerats av en hermeneutisk ansats. Resultatet har diskuterats utifrån bakgrundslitteraturen, egna tankar och upplevelser. Deltagarna i undersökningen menar på att motivation är en positiv känsla och att den är någonting starkt. Motivationen går enligt deltagarna att påverka och det är lärarna som på olika sätt kan göra det i den dagliga verksamheten. En av deltagarna skiljer i sin syn på motivation från de övriga och menar att motivation inte alls går att påverka utan hänger samman med intresse.

    Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera hur IKEA framställer mänskliga- och sociala relationer i sin marknadsföring. Samt, genom analysen, undersöka hur IKEA skapar bilden av företaget, varumärket, reklambudskapet och deras image genom att framställa vissa mänskliga relationer. Enda sedan den första IKEA-katalogen utgavs åt 1951 har katalogen varit den viktigaste marknadsföringskanalen för företaget. Därför har vi valt att undersöka just katalogen från år 2016 med hjälp av en semiotisk analys. Även tre reklamfilmer med titlarna Laga mat med barn, Leva utan dörr och Grannar tillsammans kommer analyseras med hjälp av semiotik som metod och teori. Vi har endast fokuserat på bilderna och ej på texter som framkommer i reklamen.

     

    I och med uppsatsens syfte har vi valt att utgå ifrån följande frågeställning:

    • Hur framställs mänskliga relationer i IKEA-katalogen från 2016?
    • Kan vi urskilja stereotyper i de sociala sammanhangen?
    • Vilka konnotationer respektive denotationer går att urskilja och vilka semiotiska myter skapas?

     

    Resultatet av studien påvisar hur IKEA som, enligt eget uttalande, ett värderingstyrt företag arbetar med marknadsföring genom att exponera det kulturella värdet ”gemenskap”. De fokuserar inte främst på varornas priser utan ger oss istället idéer om hur vi på bästa sätt kan få en effektiv vardag genom att köpa deras produkter. Deras varor öppnar upp för att vi som konsumenter ska kunna hitta den gemenskap IKEA presenterar.

    Undersökning om handhållna laserskannrar vid detaljmätning: En jämförelse mellan multistationen Leica Nova MS50 och den handhållna laserskannern FARO Freestyle X2016Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    Terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) have been common in geodetic measurements for over 10 years. The technology is developing rapidly and specialized instruments are launched constantly. One type of these specialized TLS instruments are hand-held laser scanners. They are designed primarily to generate point clouds of spaces and small objects where the traditional tripod mounted laser scanner has difficulties to scan. When the hand-held laser scanners are relatively new, the research on the instruments is limited, and the lack of standardized control methods. With that in mind it is important to study the instruments. In this thesis the hand-held laser scanner FARO Freestyle X was investigated on how well the handheld laser scanning technology really is and what limitations the instruments have. This was done by comparing point clouds from FARO Freestyle X with reference point cloud generated by Leica's multi-station MS50. To study the instrument a number of parameters was investigated such as scanning distance, ease of use, time and performance. These parameters were considered to be sufficient basis for conclusions about the instrument's advantages/disadvantages and limitations.

    The result of the point cloud comparison from the short distance showed deviations around 10 mm and then increase to few centimeters at longer distances. Volume limitation control showed no differences compared to the scanning from short distance. This means that moving the instrument does not affect the results significantly. The instrument's Achilles' heel is the noise that occurs when scanning from longer distances, about 30 mm deviations. Even the type of object affects the noise. The noise on the wall showed the greatest deviation while the noise on the table indicated the lowest results. The repeatability showed good results visually and had similar deviations. The instrument has a good ability to recreate objects when the resolution test demonstrates good performance. Main advantage of the instrument is its effective documentation of smaller objects, but also some larger areas where the uncertainty of centimeter-level is required. The ease of use can be described as good and the colored point clouds takes visualization to a new level. The results of the study show that the hand-held laser scanners can, potentially, challenge the traditional laser scanner.

    Abstract [en]

    Background: Today, approximately 160,000 people live with dementia in Sweden and globally, the number of affected people is approximately 50 million. Dementia is a collective name for a variety of brain diseases that occur from brain damage. As dementia often materializes gradually overtime, it tends to lead to a family member becoming the caregiver of the person who is sick.

    Aim: The aim of this literature study was to illustrate the experience of those caring for a relative with dementia as well as to describe the study groups in the included studies.

    Method: This study is a literature review with descriptive design consisting of twelve scientific articles with a qualitative approach.

    Main results: Becoming a caregiver to a relative with dementia was rarely a choice but it was a role in which the family member grows into. Many people experienced the role as a caregiver as complex and it was common to experience feelings of insecurity, isolation, fatigue and frustration. The approach and method for managing the disease differed significantly for each caregiver analyzed during this study, however humor, acceptance and religion were often employed as coping mechanisms. The result was compiled with seven subheadings: From family to family caregiver, Support in care, Insecurity, ignorance and difficult situations, More than a full time job, Loss and fear of the future, Coping strategies, and Methodological aspect – study groups.

    Conclusion: Being a family caregiver was a challenge to most people. Many have expressed the gravity of receiving both societal support and help from other family members to obtain relief within their role, but in spite of this, the caregiver often took the greater responsibility. Therefore, a critical change in the support is necessary to enable them to want, and be able, to continue to fulfill the important work they do.

Föräldrars åsikter om färg och samhälle är starkt förknippade med barns uppväxt och framtida sexuella läggning. Vilka erfarenheter ett barn får baseras främst på dess närmaste omvärlds åsikter där barnet ständigt befinner sig. Studiens syfte var att undersöka om dessa åsikter från föräldrarar påverkar deras söners färgval i klädsel. Genomförandet har utförts utifrån kvalitativt semistrukturerade intervjuer med föräldrar till söner i förskoleåldern. Studien har inspirerats av ett fenomenografiskt synsätt, där forskaren betraktar människors delade föreställningar om fenomen. Studien innefattade fyra föräldrapar och varje föräldrapar intervjuades enskilt i deras hem. Informanternas olika uppfattningar och synsätt om färg som symbol för homosexualitet och kön synliggjordes i resultatet. Av resultatet framkom hur föräldrar hade personlig inverkan på sönernas färger på klädseln, då föräldrarna inhandlade dem. Sönerna tilläts bära valfria färger på kläderna dock menade föräldrarna hur samhällets förutbestämda könssterotypiska färgkoder hade den främsta effekten, på vilka färger som befanns i deras söners klädsel. Föräldrarna tydliggjorde hur färger under tidigare årtionden kan ha symboliserat homosexualitet, men inte lika markant i dagens samhälle.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of the study was to examine why men purchase sex from women. The study includes internet as an arena for these purchases. The study material was collected through four telephone-interviews and one email-interview with men that have purchased sex on the internet. The study material has been analyzed with previous studies on the subject, radical feminism theory, self-control theory, routine activity theory and techniques of neutralization. The results showed that sex was purchased mainly because it was easier from an emotional perspective than to establish a sexual relationship. Sexual dissatisfaction with a partner and personal characteristics were described to have an effect on the men’s ability to have sex. The purchase then seemed to be the only way to satisfy their sexual needs. The internet enables several advantages. The purchase becomes practically easier at the same time as it offers anonymity.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of the study was to describe newly graduated nurses' experiences of work-related stress and to describe their experiences of what consequences stress can lead to. A descriptive interview study with qualitative approach was used. Data collection was performed by eight semi-structured interviews. The collected data was analyzed using qualitative manifest content analysis. The main result demonstrates that newly graduated nurses experienced stress in the beginning of their profession, partly because it is a time of uncertainty. Newly graduated nurses have described a decreased experience of stress with increased knowledge and experience, and reduced demands on herself in the professional role. Nursing is described to be stressful due to a variety of causes but there are measures that can be used to reduce stress. Stress has been described to cause consequences both for the nurse as an individual and for the care of patients, which has been described to result in feelings such as frustration and inadequacy. In line with Benner's theory it can be stated that newly graduated nurses undergo a professional development which lead to a experience of decreased stress. Stress in the nursing profession is a complex problem that must be dealt with on several fronts. For the newly graduated nurse it is very important that she is gentle with herself in the professional role by not having too high demands on herself to be able to practice her profession, that is carry out optimal patient-focused nursing.

    År 2007 anmäldes 19600 fall av våld mor kvinnor där förövaren var en manlig bekant till kvinnan. Mörkertalet är stort och våldet är ofta väl dolt bakom hemmets väggar. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att belysa vilka kunskaper sjuksköterskan behövde för att kunna identifiera/urskilja kvinnor utsatta för våld i nära relation samt ge en god omvårdnad till dessa när de sökte till hälso- och sjukvården. Ur de granskade artiklarna utläste författarna fem teman "Urskilja kvinnor utsatta för våld i nära relation", "Att möta våldsutsatta kvinnor", "Våldsutsatta kvinnors erfarenheter av vården", "Sjuksköterskans behov av riktlinjer och utbildning" och " Sjuksköterskans inställning till att ställa frågan". Det framkom att sjuksköterskor behövde riktlinjer och utbildning/erfarenhet för att kunna identifiera och ge en god omvårdnad till kvinnor utsatta för våld i nära relation. En god omvårdnad för dessa kvinnor innebar att sjuksköterskan vågade fråga om deras situation, vågade ta emot svaret och förmedla vidare kontakt.

    En slutsats författarna drar efter denna litteraturstudies genomförande är att forskning om sjuksköterskors kunskaper inom detta område bör undersökas ytterligare. Vidare bör det även forskas om vilken kunskap om detta ämne sjuksköterskestudenter erhåller i sin utbildning till sjuksköterska.

    This hermeneutic study is performed on request by Gävle harbour. The owner of Gävle harbour is Gävle community by Gävle Stadshus and the goal is to create a logistic centre in the district of Gästrikland/Dalarna. To enable the district to be growing and increasing environment, large investments have been put into infrastructure and machinery.

    The expansion of Gävle port and its business should in the future lead to that more companies will settle down in the port area and surroundings. That will increase the work opportunities, inhabitants and companies within the community. The goal of Gävle communities’ growth programme is to increase and be five percent better than the year 2004 within 2007.

    Facts like internationalisation of the economies and increased globalisation of markets, fast technology development, increased act on environmental issues and strive against tenable development. Many companies meet an increased competition, at the same time privatisation, deregulation and decreased recourse frames gives hash financial demands on the public businesses. Large changes in controlling both private and public businesses have been performed, cost efficiency and housekeeping of existing resources is obligated.

    Gävle port stands in front of an expansion and effectiveness of the business to be able to meet the demands of the future from a global market and the regional owner. To be able to answer the question what kind of effectiveness, ruling system and documents internal in the organization that should be maintained and established, there demands a present situation analyse. To receive the information what the company have and compare to the theories what they should have.

    The present situation analyse is built on ten qualitative interviews and shows that Gävle port have to standardise and formalise the business to be able to use their resources on a cost efficient way. To get the overall picture of the organisation the present situations analyse shows the areas that needs extra attention in the beginning. Four problem areas can be identified during the analyse that needs to be dealt with.

    Goal setting and strategy, the vision framtidsplan 2010 must be braked down in short and long term goals that can be mediated to the personnel.

    Market plan must be created to enable to have strategy and short term and long term goals for the marketing actions.

    Economy and salary system, Gävle harbour needs user friendly systems that can be helpful and gives control over the financial development.

    Environmental certification is an important issue now when the debate about environment and global heating is very intensive.

    The study shows that the theories often describe the best of worlds, but the reality usually shows a different side. Terminology used in theory books many times does not cooperate with the daily business and many times gives half the context.

    Aim:

    During the period of studies it has emerged concerns revolving around holiday remuneration, pensions, parental leave, sick-pay and employment benefits. We realized that it was important for us that we have good knowledge of these rules and therefore we started to think about if the other students in real estate education have good insight into this. The aim of our study is to investigate how much real estate students at Högskolan in Gävle know about employment conditions and benefits. If there is insufficient / inadequate knowledge we want to know what this could have implications for and for whom.

    Method:

    The quantitative method consisted of a survey of 20 standardized questions asked of students in the grades one and two at the real estate program. In total the survey generated 99 responses. The qualitative method consisted of open interview questions posed to four of the largest real estate firms.

    Result & Conclusions:

    The results of the study showed that students' knowledge of pensions, holiday remuneration, sick pay and maternity pay to real estate was scarce. Most were aware that the most common form of wages among estate agents is entirely commission based salary. Many had relatively good insight on what a real estate agent earn in a month. With regard to benefits, we think that the students had realistic expectations about them.

    Suggestions for future research:

    Two proposals for further research could be: "What is it that makes more and more women choose to become a real estate agent?" Or "How to balance the female estate career vs. life as a parent of young children?" Another subject that would also be interesting to deepen within is the importance of employment when students apply for jobs. "What employment benefits and working conditions are preferable to others and are they important for the student’s choice of work?"

    Contribution of the thesis:

    The essay can inform and serve as an aid to interested groups such as the persons responsible of the education at the real estate program, students and estate agents as a profession.

    The research study explores a large knowledge gap within Swedish elderly care – namely the challenges of within home care services at night. Despite that home care services is the most common support given to the elderly in Sweden. The few National and International studies that exist on night-time care, have focused on residential care facilities for the elderly. Therefore, focus here is on night-time care in their own homes, given by the night patrol – which we know very little about.

    In the last decades, organizational transformation has taken place within elderly care towards increased rationalization and marketization. Along with demographical changes, this raises questions of dignified care, equal social rights and access to care. As the elderly are living longer and living in their own homes with severe disability and vulnerability, the pressure on home care services will increase – including at night. Dignity in care has been legislated in the Swedish Social Services Act, but is vaguely implemented, specifically at night.

    Discussed are results of an interview survey with managers responsible for night-time home care services in 50 Swedish municipalities. How night-time care is organized varies depending on local governance, location and size of municipalities. This indicates challenges for equal access to care, depending on where you live. Care workers experience time pressure at night with many fragile elderly in need of care. How efforts to secure dignity and safety for older people varies over night is therefore important to reveal, not the least from a social equality perspective.

    Abstract [en]

    10-year old boys are writing texts in a National Test in the spring of 2009. The aim of this study is to increase knowledge in and understanding of boys’ writing skills through description, analysis and interpretation of the texts produced by the boys in the National Test in Swedish for junior level year three, taken in Sweden in 2009. The material consists of texts produced by boys and is focused on their ability to write. Through avoiding relating to texts produced by girls, it is possible to search, review, interpret and observe without simultaneously comparing the two genders. The aim of the test is to measure writing proficiency from a normative perspective, while I am investigating content, reception, awareness, and other aspects relevant when producing text. Genres are described through the instruction given in the test, which defines the work that takes place in the classroom and thereby my approach to the analysis. The latter is focused on finding patterns in the competence of the students rather than looking for flaws and limitations. When competence is searched for beyond the relationship to syllabi or the demands of the test in itself, the boys’ texts from the test provide a general foundation for investigating writing proficiency. Person, place and social group have been removed from the texts thereby avoiding aspects of social positioning. The texts are seen from the perspective of 10-year old boys who write texts in a National Test. The theoretical basis as provided by Ivaničs (2004; 2012) offers models for theory on writing. A socio-cultural viewpoint (Smidt, 2009; Säljö, 2000) including literacy and a holistic view on writing is found throughout. By the use of abdicative logic (see 4.4) material and theory work in mutual cooperation. The primary method hermeneutics (Gadamer 1997) and analytical closereading (Gustavsson, 1999) are used dependent on the requirements of the texts. The thesis builds its foundation through the analysis from theoretically diverse areas of science. Central to the thesis is the result that boys who write texts in the National Test, are able to write in two separate genres without conversion or the creating hybrids between the two. Furthermore, the boys inhibit extensive knowledge about other types of texts, gained from TV, film, computers, books, games, and magazines even in such a culturally bound context as a test. Texts the boy has knowledge of through other situations can implicitly be inserted in his own text, or be explicitly written with a name of the main character, title, as well as other signifiers. These texts are written to express and describe what is required in the topic heading of the test. In addition other visible results of the boys’ ability to write well occur though the multitude of methods for analysis throughout the thesis which both search, and find writing competence in the texts written by the boys.

    Övervikt och fetma är ett växande problem i Sverige och delar av världen. Det är en riskfaktor för andra somatiska sjukdomar och har en negativ inverkan på livskvalitén. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva distriktsköterskors arbete med och reflektioner kring behandlingen av vuxna patienter med övervikt och fetma. Studien var av kvalitativ ansats med deskriptiv design och genomfördes genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med åtta distriktssköterskor på landstingsdrivna vårdcentraler i Uppsala län. Resultatet av studien visade att mätvärden och samtal var viktiga verktyg för att distriktssköterskorna ska kunna identifiera patientens övervikt eller fetma. I behandlingen av övervikt och fetma var motiverande samtal, tvärprofessionellt arbete, fysisk aktivitet på recept och kostråd centrala delar. Liksom de stöd som distriktssköterskan utgjorde för patienten i beteendeförändringen. Patientens brist på motivation eller vilja kunde försvåra samarbetet mellan patient och distriktssköterska. Slutsatsen av studien visade att distriktssköterskorna hade en betydande roll i patientens beteendeförändring mot en hälsosammare livsstil och viktminskning. Distriktssköterskorna hade kunskap och kompetens att hjälpa patienten i arbetet med beteendeförändringen men mer kunskap behövdes för att kunna utveckla vården. Riktlinjer för hur övervikt och fetma ska tas om hand och behandlas inom vården var viktiga och hjälpte distriktssköterskorna att motivera sitt arbete hos verksamhetschefer. Distriktssköterskorna följde delvis vårdprogrammet för fetma hos vuxna i Uppsala län.

    This study illuminates teachers’ conceptions of gender and science and possibilities to challenge these conceptions. Since 2005, a group of teachers (K-6) inSwedenhave met approximately once a month in two-hour seminars to discuss and develop their instruction in science and technology based on a gender perspective. The present data consist mainly of audio-recordings of the teacher seminars and video-recordings of science/technology activities with students. Analysis of the empirical data has been carried out in several stages and was inspired by thematic analysis, the theoretical framework of which is based on Hirdman’s and Beauvoir’s theories of gender. The results show that the teachers’ ideas about gender/equity and science exist on several levels, within which various conceptions are represented. On the one hand, “reasoning around similarity”, where teachers consider that both girls and boys should have the same prerequisites for working with science/technology. In contrast, stereotyped conceptions of girls and boys when the teachers evaluate their activities with students, where condescending attitudes toward girls are also observed. The girls’ ways of working with science/technology are not as highly valued as the boys’, and this outlook on children can ultimately have consequences for girls’ attitudes toward the subject. When teachers are allowed to read their own statements about the girls, they get “a glimpse of themselves”, and their condescending ideas about girls are made visible. In this way, the teachers can begin their active work toward change, which may lead to new outlooks on and attitudes toward students.

    Abstract [en]

    The main focus in this thesis is teachers’ gender awareness related to scientific practice. The thesis is based on two different empirical studies: a longitudinal action research study together with a group of teachers (K-6) and a study during an in-service development course where experienced teachers applied gender theory on a real classroom situation, a case. 

     

    The studies show that working with gender is complicated and comprises of many aspects of human life. An important part of gender awareness is to be able to relate to these aspects. A question of vital importance is to challenge conceptions of gender in such a way that the conceptions will be verbalized and thereby visualized. Moreover, the studies show that feminist pedagogy and theory of science can lead to a new approach to teaching and learning in science. For teachers without any background in science, there are other competences than just subject matter knowledge that are vital for teaching. Feminist perspectives in professional development reinforce teachers’ pedagogical competences and their pedagogical content knowledge and thereby make these teachers feel they participate in the scientific practice and contribute in developing both the stuff of knowledge and its culture.

     

    The thesis also contributes to new methodological knowledge about action research. One of the results is that time is an important factor to take into consideration depending on what kind of change you want to receive. The researcher engaged in action research as an "outsider" has an important function in order to monitor the process and pay attention and use critical events to drive the change process forward.

    Abstract [en]

    In this article we problematize the purpose of teaching science in preschool and what competences preschool teachers need in order to conduct science activities in the classroom. The empirical data were collected through an action research project with five preschool and primary school teachers (K-6). In the first section we have used one situation, a floating-sinking experiment, as an illustration of how two different epistemological perspectives generate different foci on which kind of science teaching competences that are fruitful in preschool. In the first perspective, the central goal of science teaching is the development of the children’s conceptual understanding. With this perspective, we found that the science activities with the children were unsuccessful, because the children’s thoughts about concepts did not develop but even the situation enhanced a misconception concerning density. Moreover, the teacher was unsuccessful in supporting the children’s conceptual learning. The second perspective uses a feminist approach that scrutinizes science, where we investigate if the floating-sinking activity contributes to a feeling of participation in a scientific context for the children and if so how the teacher promotes this inclusion. This second perspective showed that the children’s scientific proficiency benefited from the situation; they had acquired a positive experience of the density concept that they could build upon which was reinforced by the teacher. The children discovered that they had power over their own learning by using an experimental approach. On the basis of these findings, we conclude that there are competences other than subject matter knowledge that are also important when preschool teachers engage children in scientific activities. Through process-oriented work with the teacher group, we identified four concrete skills: paying attention to and using children’s previous experiences; capturing unexpected things that happen at the moment they occur; asking questions that challenge the children and that stimulate further investigation; situated presence, that is, “remaining” in the situation and listening to the children and their explanations. We discuss possible ways to move preschool teachers away from their feelings of inadequacy and poor self-confidence in teaching science by reinforcing this kind of pedagogical content knowledge.

    Abstract [en]

    In this study we want to call attention to and discuss two aspects of importance for work toward change regarding fundamental values through action research. The first aspect is time, and taking it into account according to “the action research spiral”. The second aspect concerns the importance of critical events for making progress and challenging preconceived notions. We also stress that researchers as “outsiders” have the opportunity to overview the process in a way that the other participants (insiders) do not. The empirical data is collected from an action research project on science and gender conducted inSweden with teachers from preschool and K-6. The collaboration was proceeded during 2005 to 2010, a total of 57 months.

    Våren 2005 har ett skolutvecklingsprojekt initierats tillsammans med åtta verksamma lärare för att studera om en ökad genusmedvetenhet kan påverka undervisningen inom naturorienterade ämnen (NO) och teknik. Lärargruppen har tillsammans med projektansvariga diskuterat litteratur från forskning inom genusvetenskap och ämnesdidaktik vid sammanlagt sju seminarietillfällen. Lärarna uppmärksammar könsbundna attitydskillnader till naturvetenskap och teknik. En ökad insikt om flickors behov av att se helheter och förstå sammanhang har fått lärarna att tänka kring sin undervisning i NO/teknik på ett nytt sätt. Lärarna har bland annat provat att presentera samma undervisningsmoment på olika sätt i flick- respektive pojkgrupper. Träning och erfarenhet inom ett område som eleverna tidigare inte behärskar, skapar trygghet och förtrogenhet med ämnet och därigenom kan attitydskillnader överbryggas. För att bättre kunna förmedla ett intresse och engagemang till eleverna uttrycker lärarna en önskan om kompetensutveckling inom NO/teknik. I artikeln presenteras delresultat från intervjuer med fyra av de deltagande lärarna.

    This study examines to what extent experienced teachers are aware of gender issues in the science classroom. It also explores how an introduction to gender theory might alter this awareness. Teachers wrote their reflections about a real classroom situation. They were then asked to analyse the same situation after having read texts that discussed gender theory concepts. The fourteen teachers' understanding about gender and society were challenged. Some teachers were able to analyse the case differently by applying gender theory, others discussed the case on a more general level, while one teacher showed signs of resistance regarding gender theory.

    Attempts to reform science education have to a minor extent taken into account that gender issues may have an influence on the pupils, their learning and interest. Therefore, examples of using feminist or gender theories for analyzing or planning science education are difficult to find in the literature (Nyström 2007, Sinnes 2006). The aim of this study is to examine to what extent experienced teachers apprehend the gender order within the scientific classroom and also to explore if it is possible to achieve a change in these apprehensions. In-service teachers have unprepared written down their reflections about a real classroom situation, a case, and afterwards got the task of analyzing the situation once again after reading a gender theory. The teachers’ texts have been analyzed in several steps: first, the written material was analyzed to find and form categories of relevance; second, sections were raised that pointed out if the teachers had used the gender theory and in what way they had used it; and third, a comparison was made on an individual level of the teachers’ explanations in the two different tasks. The results show that the participating teachers’ understandings about gender and society were challenged ,which is expressed in different ways in their texts. One group of teachers was able to apply the theory on the concrete classroom event, another group had a discussion on a more general level, while one teacher showed a resistance to the theory and thereby also to the task. The fact that the teachers deepen and widen their interpretation of a real classroom’s event when they get access to a gender theory indicates that this method can be applied in teacher education. The usage of cases can be an instrument to link theories to practical work.

    Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva hur sjuksköterskans arbetsmiljö påverkar patientsäkerheten. Metoden som användes var en litteraturstudie som baserade sig på tretton artiklar. Resultatet pekade på att kvalitén på vården som sjuksköterskorna gav var signifikant associerad med sjukhusets arbetsmiljö och antalet anställda. Det fanns ett starkt samband mellan antalet patienter per sjuksköterska och patientsäkerheten. Det visade sig även att om en arbetsplats har en dåligt organiserad arbetsmiljö så kan det motverka fördelarna med att ha mycket personal. Sjuksköterskor måste vara flexibla då patienternas behov och vårdkedjor var mycket komplexa och ständigt varierande. Det kan finnas starka kopplingar mellan patienternas säkerhet i vården och sjuksköterskornas arbetsmiljö samt flera faktorer som påverkar denna arbetsmiljö: bemanning, organisation, arbetsansvar, höga krav, arbetsledning, patienternas tillstånd, arbetsrelationer, lagarbete, arbetsvillkor, sjuksköterskans professionella inställning, kommunikation, resurser, stress, utmattningssyndrom, stora mängder administration, telefonarbete, hanterande av svåra situationer och övriga icke sjuksköterskeuppgifter. Sjuksköterskeyrket beskrivs som mycket komplext, att det förväntas mycket och att det ställs stora krav på våra sjuksköterskor. Hög arbetsbelastning, konflikter mellan kollegor, dålig ledning och emotionell börda kopplades till utmattningssyndrom bland sjuksköterskor. Slutsatsen blev att låg bemanning och dålig arbetsmiljö kan påverka vårdkvalitén och patientsäkerheten.

    In Sweden the death of about 90 000 people each year and the number who die elsewhere than in hospital increases. This places greater demands on the palliative home care. Through education and guidelines can nurses in palliative care give patients and relatives increased quality of life and allow the choice of place to end his life.

    The aim: of this study was to investigate if the interaction between nurse, relatives and patient facilitates a good care and death in palliative care. Method: The study was conducted as a literature study in which seven quantitative and ten qualitative research articles were reviewed. Results: Four categories were identified that were relevant for nursing care and death in palliative care, Communication, Relationships between nurses, patients and relatives, To die at home or in hospice and The good death. The communication was found to have a large impact on the interaction in the palliative care. The results showed that the communication involved much more than just verbal. Although humor can be regarded as trivial and unprofessional proved to have a significant impact on the interaction and contributed to the nurse came closer to the patient and the relatives. The need for education and knowledge in palliative care were found to be important for nurses but also for patients and relatives to make decisions about where and how the patient wants to be nursed.

    Det här examensarbetet handlar om vad två pedagoger på respektive förskola har för syn på barns lek i deras verksamhet; vad dessa två pedagogers uppfattningar om skillnaden mellan lek och fri lek är, samt hur deltagande pedagogen själv kan vara i leken kommer att behandlas. Ett annat område som behandlas i examensarbetet är om respektive förskollärare anser att miljön på förskolan kan påverka barn i deras lek och hur den kan formas för att gynna lekandet. Som metod har intervjuer och observationer använts och genom dem har det i slutsatsen kommit fram vad två förskollärare och deras kollegor anser om lek samt hur det överensstämmer med praktiken.

    Det har tidigare forskats en del om lek men inte om pedagogers uppfattningar om fri lek. Därför blev valet att behandla just den frågan i mitt examensarbete. En intressant jämförelse är att de teoretiska perspektiven författarna har i litteraturen har speglat hur författarna själva ser på lek, och då har även en relatering till vad studiens pedagoger kan ha för teoretiska perspektiv gjorts eftersom det påverkar deras uppfattning om lekens betydelse. Det är en egen tolkning som gjorts under granskning av resultat.

    Vad som kommer fram ur denna undersökning är att det finns olika sätt att uppfatta lek och hur man som pedagog kan agera och delta i lek. Lek är viktig för dessa pedagoger och den ska till stor del finnas i verksamheten eftersom den främjar barns utveckling ur flera perspektiv. Lek och fri lek skiljer sig åt på så sätt att i den fria leken får barnen själva bestämma över leken enligt en av de intervjuade. På dessa förskolor som ingår i undersökningen valde dessa pedagoger att inte delta i barnens lek, då de vill att barnen ska lära sig leka utan vuxna, såvida inte konflikter uppstår och barnen behöver en vuxens vägledning. Även då ville personalen att barnen till stor del skulle kunna reda ut situationen till stor del själv eftersom det främjar den personliga identitetsutvecklingen hos barnen. Barn ska kunna leka själva utan en vuxen närvarande i leken; en av pedagogerna ansåg att barnen skulle vara varandras kamrater och inte de vuxna. Miljön har enligt de intervjuade stor effekt på barnens lek och hur leken kan påverkas genom den. Barnen ska kunna tillgodose sin egen lek på så sätt att materialen ska vara tillängliga för barnen, såsom leksaker, skapandematerial osv.

    På dessa två förskolor överensstämde resultatet från undersökningen på flera områden, intervjupersonerna hade ungefär liknande värderingar om hur viktig leken var och även vad de hade för uppfattningar om den. Av intervju samt observation upplevdes det att de intervjuade i huvudsak ”lever som de lär”. De agerade till största delen i praktiken som de uppgav i intervjun.

    Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur och varför lärare i ämnet idrott och hälsa på gymnasiet använder sig utav musik som ett pedagogiskt verktyg samt varför de inte använder musik. Syftet är även att undersöka om gymnasielärarna i ämnet idrott och hälsa blir påverkade av några yttre faktorer som kan resultera i att de använder musiken i sin undervisning. Studien är baserad på kvalitativa intervjuer med åtta lärare i ämnet idrott och hälsa på gymnasiet. Resultatet visar att lärarnas tankar och idéer kring användandet av musik samt hur de upplever att eleverna agerar till musik stämmer bra överens med tidigare forskning som visar många fördelar med att arbeta till musik. Resultatet visar även att de yttre faktorer som påverkar lärarna mest, när det gäller hur det använder sig utav musik i deras undervisning, är eleverna och deras musikintresse. Slutsatsen av studien är att lärarna upplever att musik motiverar och inspirerar elever till rörelseglädje samt en högre prestationsnivå. Hur de använder musiken är antingen som bakgrundmusik eller som ett hjälpmedel.
