A framework for assessing urban greenery's effects and valuing its ecosystem services2018In: Journal of Environmental Management, ISSN 0301-4797, E-ISSN 1095-8630, Vol. 205, p. 274-285, article id S0301-4797(17)30940-4Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Ongoing urban exploitation is increasing pressure to transform urban green spaces, while there is increasing awareness that greenery provides a range of important benefits to city residents. In efforts to help resolve associated problems we have developed a framework for integrated assessments of ecosystem service (ES) benefits and values provided by urban greenery, based on the ecosystem service cascade model. The aim is to provide a method for assessing the contribution to, and valuing, multiple ES provided by urban greenery that can be readily applied in routine planning processes. The framework is unique as it recognizes that an urban greenery comprises several components and functions that can contribute to multiple ecosystem services in one or more ways via different functional traits (e.g. foliage characteristics) for which readily measured indicators have been identified. The framework consists of five steps including compilation of an inventory of indicator; application of effectivity factors to rate indicators' effectiveness; estimation of effects; estimation of benefits for each ES; estimation of the total ES value of the ecosystem. The framework was applied to assess ecosystem services provided by trees, shrubs, herbs, birds, and bees, in green areas spanning an urban gradient in Gothenburg, Sweden. Estimates of perceived values of ecosystem services were obtained from interviews with the public and workshop activities with civil servants. The framework is systematic and transparent at all stages and appears to have potential utility in the existing spatial planning processes.

Predictors of Well-being at work2016In: Scientific Programme: Wellbeing at Work 2016, 2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The concept of healthy workplace has been defined as an organization that maximizes the integration of worker goals for wellbeing and company objectives for profitability and productivity. Conditions in today’s working life make new approaches necessary in order to limit negative health effects of work and to enhance wellbeing and health at work. About 24 % of the working population in Sweden report to have had work-related disorders during the last twelve months. In order to achieve a sustainable working life it is likely that strategies and actions from different and new angles are needed.ObjectivesThe present study is a part of a larger study (the GodA –study; a Swedish acronym for good work environments and healthy workplaces) and aims to investigate how work environment factors, work ability, work motivation, work and life balance predict well-being at work.

    Methods

The GodA study is a 2-year follow up study in Sweden with a survey feedback design in three companies with both blue- and white collar workers. One of the companies serves as “intervention-company”, the other two as controls. A baseline questionnaire was sent out 2013 and the results from the survey were reported back to the companies, which have been processing their results. In spring 2015 a follow up survey has been administered. Data have been analysed with univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses.

    Results

A baseline multivariate linear regression model, which included background factors, perceived psychosocial work climate and work environmental factors (motivation, leadership, employee responsibilities, efficacy, work ability and management committed to employee health) and work life balance, showed that psychosocial work climate (B= .48, 95% CI=.27 – .69) leadership, (B= .27, 95% CI=.05– .49), work ability (B= -.12, 95% CI= .03 – .21), motivation (B= -33, 95% CI= .14 – .51) and work life balance (B= -.34, 95% CI=-.57– -.12), were signifi-cantly associated with well-being at work and explained 40% of the variance (Adjusted R2=.40, p<.001).

    Conclusions

Results showed that not only work environment factors are important predictors. To maintain a healthy work place a promotion of balance between work and private life is needed.

Fastighetsmäklares etiska beslutsfattande: En studie om fastighetsmäklares kognitiva moraliska utveckling (CMD)2016Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

Introduction: HIV-infection is a chronic and progressive disease that, left untreated, leads to a deterioration of the immune system and the development of AIDS.

Aim: To examine nursing students´, at two universities, knowledge about HIV and their attitude towards assessing the need for a HIV-test.

Method: An empirical cross-sectional study using descriptive and comparative design with a quantitative approach. Data was collected by a questionnaire among third year nursing students at the University of Gavle and Uppsala University (N=95).

Result: A majority (88,4 %) answered correctly that intercourse with more than one partner increases the risk for contracting HIV. Three students (3,2 %) answered incorrectly that there is a vaccine for HIV. Nearly half of the students did not know that lubricant, combined with a condom, does not reduce the risk for contracting HIV. A majority (78,9 %) recommended a HIV-test to a woman who have had unprotected sex with a man. In analyzing the students´ explanatory statements for the need for a HIV-test, four categories emerged; “risk”, “sexual behavior”, “patients´ concern” and “not knowing”.

Conclusion: The nursing students had relatively good knowledge about HIV. However, there was a significant lack of knowledge in some questions. The nursing students´ attitudes towards HIV-testing conforms relatively well with current guidelines. However, there is a need to change an outdated way of assessing the risk for HIV-infection to be able to provide counseling to patients based on current knowledge.

Bereaved family members' perspectives on suffering among older rural cancer patients in palliative home nursing care: a qualitative study2017In: European Journal of Cancer Care, ISSN 0961-5423, E-ISSN 1365-2354, Vol. 26, no 6Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Little is known about experiences with receiving home nursing care when old, living in a rural area, and suffering from end-stage cancer. The aim of this study was thus to investigate bereaved family members' perceptions of suffering by their older relatives when receiving palliative home nursing care. Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 family members, in Norway during autumn 2015, and directed content analysis guided by Katie Eriksson's theoretical framework on human suffering was performed upon the data. The two main categories identified reflected expressions of both suffering and well-being. Expressions of suffering were related to illness, to care and to life and supported the theory. Expressions of well-being were related to other people (e.g. familiar people and nurses), to home and to activity. The results indicate a need to review and possibly expand the perspective of what should motivate care. Nursing and palliative care that become purely disease and symptom-focused may end up with giving up and divert the attention to social and cultural factors that may contribute to well-being when cure is not the goal.

Meanings of being old, living on one's own and suffering from incurable cancer in rural Norway2013In: European Journal of Oncology Nursing, ISSN 1462-3889, E-ISSN 1532-2122, Vol. 17, no 6, p. 781-787Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    Purpose

The aim of this study was to explore and understand the lived experience of older people living alone and suffering from incurable cancer in rural Norway.

    Methods and sample

Narrative interviews were conducted with five older people with incurable cancer (three women and two men, aged 71–79), receiving outpatient and life-prolonging chemotherapy and living alone in their homes in rural areas. A phenomenological hermeneutical approach was used to interpret the meaning of the lived experience.

    Key results

Four main themes were found: enduring by keeping hope alive, becoming aware that you are on your own, living up to expectations of being a good patient and being at risk of losing one's identity and value. Enduring this situation means struggling with terminal illness and facing death in a brave manner, and replacing former ways of living. The process of providing treatment may threaten dignity and cause additional distress.

    Conclusions

These results show a complex and comprehensive situation where physical symptoms and emotions are interwoven. Further the results describe how the ways of suffering caused by the manner in which care is delivered, suffering related to the cancer disease and existential suffering, may increase each other's impact. The social and rural context calls for special attention as the patients may lack recourses to gain sufficient care. Their comfort depends to a large extent on the health professionals' sensitivity.

Nurses’ experiences of compassion when giving palliative care at home2019In: Nursing Ethics, ISSN 0969-7330, E-ISSN 1477-0989Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background: Compassion is seen as a core professional value in nursing and as essential in the effort of relieving suffering and promoting well-being in palliative care patients. Despite the advances in modern healthcare systems, there is a growing clinical and scientific concern that the value of compassion in palliative care is being less emphasised. Objective: This study aimed to explore nurses’ experiences of compassion when caring for palliative patients in home nursing care. Design and participants: A secondary qualitative analysis inspired by hermeneutic circling was performed on narrative interviews with 10 registered nurses recruited from municipal home nursing care facilities in Mid-Norway. Ethical considerations: The Norwegian Social Science Data Services granted permission for the study (No. 34299) and the re-use of the data. Findings: The compassionate experience was illuminated by one overarching theme: valuing caring interactions as positive, negative or neutral, which entailed three themes: (1) perceiving the patient’s plea, (2) interpreting feelings and (3) reasoning about accountability and action, with subsequent subthemes. Discussion: In contrast to most studies on compassion, our results highlight that a lack of compassion entails experiences of both negative and neutral content. Conclusion: The phenomenon of neutral caring interactions and lack of compassion demands further explorations from both a patient – and a nurse perspective. © The Author(s) 2019.

When expressions make impressions-Nurses' narratives about meeting severely ill patients in home nursing care: A phenomenological-hermeneutic approach to understanding2013In: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being, ISSN 1748-2623, E-ISSN 1748-2631, Vol. 8, no 1, article id 21880Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Registered nurses (RNs) working in homecare encounter severely ill and palliative patients whose expressions may cause ethical challenges and influence their daily work. The aim of this qualitative study was to illuminate and interpret the meaning of nurses’ lived experiences when meeting these patients. Narrative interviews were conducted with 10 RNs working in home nursing care. These interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim to a text and interpreted by a phenomenological-hermeneutic method inspired by Ricoeur. The meaning of the RNs’ lived experience of patients’ expressions was formulated into four themes. The first theme, Being open for the presence of the Other, includes two subthemes: “Sensing vulnerability” and “Empathizing with.” The second theme, Being satisfied, entails the subthemes, “Feeling exceptional” and “Being trusted.” The third theme, Being frustrated, contains the subthemes, “Being disappointed” and “Being angry.” The fourth and final theme, Being ambivalent, includes one subtheme: “Being generous or reserved.” Patients’ expressions that make impressions on nurses create emotional waves. Expressions leave impressions that call upon the nurse, and confront her with taking the risk of letting intuition and pre-reflexive feelings gain entry to her care. Allowing for the Other's presence is seen as a precondition, which means facing humanity and sensing a vulnerability in herself as well as in the Other. Understanding and balancing this emotional dimension in care seems to cause confusion and distress within the nurses. Realizing how their feelings may lead to either generosity or aloofness towards the patient is upsetting. Our interpretation suggests that these impressions echo confusion according to the role of being a professional nurse. There is a need to pay more attention to how the emotional dimension in care is understood and impacts the way nurses perform their professional role.

"Picking up the pieces" - Meanings of receiving home nursing care when being old and living with advanced cancer in a rural area2015In: International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being, ISSN 1748-2623, E-ISSN 1748-2631, Vol. 10, no 1, article id 28382Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Rural home nursing care is a neglected area in the research of palliative care offered to older cancer patients. Because access to specialized services is hampered by long distances and fragmented infrastructure, palliative care is often provided through standard home nursing services and delivered by general district nurses. This study aimed to illuminate the lived experience and to interpret the meaning of receiving home nursing care when being old and living with advanced cancer in a rural area in Norway. Narrative interviews were conducted with nine older persons, and a phenomenological hermeneutic approach was used to interpret the meaning of the lived experience. The analysis revealed three themes, each with subthemes: being content with what one gets, falling into place, and losing one's place. The phrase picking up the pieces was found useful to sum up the meaning of this lived experience. The three respective themes refer to how the pieces symbolize the remaining parts of life or available services in their environment, and how the older persons may see themselves as pieces or bricks in a puzzle. A strong place attachment (physical insideness, social insideness, and autobiographical insideness) is demonstrated by the informants in this study and suggests that the rural context may provide an advantageous healthcare environment. Its potential to be a source of comfort, security, and identity concurs with cancer patients’ strong desire for being seen as unique persons. The study shows that district nurses play an essential role in the provision of palliative care for older rural patients. However, the therapeutic value of being in one's familiar landscape seems to depend on how homecare nurses manage to locate it and use it in a more or less person-centred manner. Communication skills and attentiveness to psychosocial aspects of patient care stand out as important attributes for nursing in this context.

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

BIM and 3D property visualisation2018In: FIG Congress 2018: Proceedings, 2018, article id 9367Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

The concept of 3D property has only existed a short period of time in Sweden, being introduced in 2004 and expanded in 2009 by the addition of condominium (apartment) ownership. It is therefore a rather new form of land management, and the demand for 3D property formation has not been as high as initially expected. There is however an increased interest in 3D property and ownership apartments today, also as being part of the nation’s geospatial infrastructure together with related 3D information for e.g. buildings, utility networks and other features. An effective management of 3D property is depending on, among other things, visualization, representation and storage of 3D real property data, such as legal boundaries and real property rights. There are at present a number of ongoing 3D development and research projects focusing on visualization and standardization of 3D cadastral boundaries. They are part of the national "Smart Built Environment" development and research program, which includes the use of BIM in the (future) 3D property formation process with focus on visualization of 3D real property and condominiums, and specification of requirements and evaluation of 3D digital real property information created and managed in the processes.

This paper presents the preliminary results of the working group on visualization of 3D boundaries in the project "Smart planning, construction and management processes throughout the life cycle". The aim is to test the results produced in the project "Information for planning, real property formation and building permission", working group "BIM for 3D property formation." The purpose of this working group is to set the requirements for and evaluate the test bed for 3D property information. The focus is on visualization of 3D property and ownership apartments. The proposed model for digitization and visualization of 3D property formation will be tested in a test bed environment. A pilot case from the Stockholm area is then used in the test bed to see how it could work in practice.

The expected outcome is recommendations for the exchange of documentation and other digital information in 3D processes, the visualization of legal boundaries for stakeholders, registration of legal 3D objects in the Swedish national real property register and how to communicate 3D models to right holders/stakeholders for 3D property and condominiums and the property market, as well as suggestions for a homogeneous, effective and digital flow of 3D information to be used by actors and other stakeholders in the property formation, planning and building processes.

Authentic Assessment: Outcomes-based Intuitive Assessment, Misunderstandings, Application and Pedagogical Development2010Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

According to the Bologna Directives teaching at Swedish Colleges and Universities should be outcomes-based rather than content-based. Inspired by the assessment principles involved in setting grades for art education portfolios, professor Peter Gill at the University of Gävle has developed a model of educational assessment matrices, the purpose of which is to clarify the procedures involved in assessing educational tasks by focussing on learning outcomes. However, the implementation of this initiative has been met with certain difficulties. Intended users have lacked a common conceptual framework and have expressed a reluctance to embrace a scoring system that requires congruence between aggregated subjective judgements and Bologna grades. One reason may be that the underlying epistemological assumptions are difficult to clarify. A further reason is also postulated on the basis of epistemological collisions between different ideological positions. The following text takes as its starting point observed misunderstandings concerning the nature of intuitive authentic assessment as well as practical experience of making use of such assessment procedures. The article argues for the use of clarifying and systematizing the assessment principles in order to increase methodological transparency for students and colleagues. It is also argued that implementing such assessment strategies provides improved possibilities for pedagogical and didactical development.

Conceptualizing concepts: The use of Methodological Concepts in Qualitative Research2010Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

Within the scientific community, methodological concepts occupy a central position. Many students devote much effort trying to learn "correct" meanings for the concepts with which they come in contact. Another way to approach what might be termed ‘ontology of conceptualization’ is to study how concepts are used. The subject of this investigation is an exploration of the use of some methodological concepts as they arise in academic dissertations. In the theses that were studied it was found that concepts are not used coherently in a lexical sense. While use may be consistent with knowledge claims as they are elucidated in the texts, there is a need to distinguish what is being described in terms of the use of concepts from other possible meaning-options. A didactic conclusion from this analysis is that the teaching of research methodology will be more successful when it focuses on differences between concepts and how they are presented and used in given research contexts, rather than attempting to providing general all-encompassing definitions.

Understanding Pedagogy by using Aesthetic Analysis2011Conference paper (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

The basic assumption underlying this study is that in completing any pedagogical task there is always an aesthetic dimension involved. Three archetypal pedagogical approaches are enacted and examined by focusing on pedagogical activity as a form of Art. The examples are constructed in order to explicate pedagogically “problematic” approaches. The purpose is to understand and enlighten the pedagogical impact of certain behaviors by the using of aesthetic analysis. One suggested result of the study will be to show how hard, or impossible, it is to distinguish between aspects of content and form in any pedagogical process. Another suggested conclusion will be to show how enhanced awareness of, and reflection on, aesthetic considerations in pedagogical contexts usually deemed "non-aesthetic" might serve a useful tool in professional pedagogical development as a teacher.

Från ingen idé till färdig föreställning: Ett fokussamtal om den skapande processen2010Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Fastighetsmäklarens arbete och förhållningssätt kring  16 § i Fastighetsmäklarlagen  2009Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Aim: The background to the paper has its origin in the reports made against real estate agents where a large proportion of these complaints are related to lack of information to the parties. According to us these complaints contribute to a lack of trust for the real estate agents since these reports can be highlighted as something concrete in media. The purpose of the paper is to get a clearer picture and better understanding of how real estate agents work according to Section 16 Real Estate Brokerage Act. If the information to the parties is insufficient, our hope is to shed light on these to eventually be able to reduce complaints against real estate agents.

Our main question of this essay is: How do real estate agents work to give buyers and sellers the advice and information they need in connection with the conveyance of real property pursuant to Section 16 Real Estate Brokerage Act, deficiencies work somewhere?

Method: We have used a qualitative method and collected data using depth interviews which has been put together and will be discussed in the paper. The data we collected was the basis for our analysis where we compared how the people we interviewed worked against the theory in the paper to try to see the context and enhance our understanding.

Result & Conclusions: We had an idea that the disclosures according to Section 16 FML had not been met to the extent that is desirable at a brokerage. Our first impression has changed since we realized that the people interviewed generally worked under the laws and guidelines that exist. The problem is not the real estate agents’ work patterns but how the information is distributed to the parties.

Suggestions for future research: Our paper describes a real estate agent’s work under Section 16 FML which is compared to the legal theory which has been our definition. It would be interesting to investigate how a real estate agent works and compare against the organization theory to get a different perspective. Furthermore, it would be possible to do the study with the same problem fixed to a geographical or demographic comparison. Finally, it would be exciting to see how you can convey information to consumers in the best way through some form of study.

Contribution of the paper: We believe that the benefits of the study is that we get an understanding of why these complaints are being made to the FMN and that it brings some clarity to how real estate agents work according to our reference points.

Flow Mixing Inside a Control-Rod Guide Tube: Part 2—Experimental Tests and CFD-Simulations2010In: 18th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering: Volume 4, Parts A and B, 2010, p. 655-663Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Alarge number of control rod cracks were detected during therefuelling outage of the twin reactors Oskarshamn 3 and Forsmark3 in the fall of 2008. The extensive damage investigationfinally lead to the restart of both reactors at theend of 2008 under the condition that further studies wouldbe conducted in order to clarify all remaining matters. Also, all control rods were inserted 14% in order to locatethe welding region of the control rod stem away fromthe thermal mixing region of the flow. Unfortunately, this measureled to new cracks a few months later due toa combination of surface finish of the new stems andthe changed flow conditions after the partial insertion of thecontrol rods. The experimental evidence reported here shows an increasein the extension of the mixing region and in theintensity of the thermal fluctuations. As a part of thecomplementary work associated with the restart of the reactors, andto verify the CFD simulations, experimental work of the flowin the annular region formed by the guide tube andcontrol rod stem was carried out. Two full-scale setups weredeveloped, one in a Plexiglass model at atmospheric conditions (inorder to be able to visualize the mixing process) andone in a steel model to allow for a highertemperature difference and heating of the control rod guide tube. The experimental results corroborate the general information obtained through CFDsimulations, namely that the mixing region between the cold crud-removalflow and warm by-pass flow is perturbed by flow structurescoming from above. The process is characterized by low frequent, high amplitude temperature fluctuations. The process is basically hydrodynamic, causedby the downward transport of flow structures originated at theupper bypass inlets. The damping thermal effects through buoyancy isof secondary importance, as also the scaling analysis shows, howevera slight damping of the temperature fluctuations can be seendue to natural convection due to a pre-heating of thecold crud-removal flow. The comparison between numerical and experimental resultsshows a rather good agreement, indicating that experiments with plantconditions are not necessary since, through the existing scaling lawsand CFD-calculations, the obtained results may be extrapolated to plantconditions. The problem of conjugate heat transfer has not yetbeen addressed experimentally since complex and difficult measurements of theheat transfer have to be carried out. This type ofmeasurements constitutes one of the main challenges to be dealtwith in the future work.

    ABSTRACT

Title: CoDriver - supervisor's knowledge as a condition for effective new employee orientation programs in the workplace

Level: Final assignment for Master Degree in Business Administration

    Author: Per Angemo

    Supervisor: Agneta Sundström

Date: 2011 - May Aim: Given that today there is a need to allow new employees to take time to go through an orientation program this case study aims to examine the following issues:

    1) How do organizations today plan, implement and monitor new employee orientation programs?

    and

    2) How can a better understanding of prerequisites of workplace performance, group processes and leadership change an organization's approach to new employee orientation programs?

Method: Research was conducted in the form of a case study.  Data collection has primarily been made through focus groups and surveys. The case study is thus based on both qualitative and quantitative data.

Results & conclusion: The case study showed that the participating organizations before the completion of the training devoted very little time for planning, implementation and monitoring of new employee orientation programs.

After completing the supervisor training program organizations taking part in this study showed a greater understanding of the importance of an overall view of the new employee orientation program, meaning for example leadership, group orientation or performance prerequisites.

Suggestions for future research: With the short time that passed between training effort and this study, it is difficult to make measurements on interesting dimensions as staff turnover and employee satisfaction index which could illustrate the effects of educational intervention in a longer perspective. However, this is an interesting idea for further research.

Contribution of the thesis: Results of this case study are of value for all types of organizations that are regularly faced with implementing a recruitment process in that it highlights the need for leadership training and knowledge of group processes in order to become an effective supervisor in new employee programs.

    Abstract [en]

    ABSTRACT

Aim: This thesis has two purposes:

    1) To create a better understanding of how an impact analysis may affect the outcome of organizational change processes

    and

    2) To initiate the development of a tool for carrying out an impact analysis in an organizational change process and carry out an initial test of this tool.

Method: This thesis is a qualitative case study. After an initial literature review, the method of data collection has been qualitative interviews of unstructured and semi-structured nature. In the analysis of collected data a hermeneutic approach has been applied.

Result & Conclusion: The impact analysis carried out in this case study clearly shows how an impact analysis can affect the basis of decision making, planning and implementation of change in organizations. Thus theoretical as well as empirical ground has been found for its value in organizational change processes.

The test of the tool showed that the focus areas developed were perceived as relevant in the company context. The tool, however, most likely needs further development in the form of a user's guide to achieve an understanding of the focus areas, their content, and their impact on each other, good enough to be applied without using external consulting services. This was an initial assumption that was strengthened by the results of the study.

Suggestions for future research: One limitation of this study may be that the test of the tool had to be carried out at a different stage in the change process from what was initially planned. It would be suitable to test the tool at its originally suggested stage of a change process and also in an organization of a more diversified character. The above mentioned are both suggestions for future studies.

Contribution of the thesis: My hope is that this thesis has created a better understanding of how an impact analysis may affect the outcome of organizational change projects. The development of a tool for carrying out an impact analysis has been initiated and in its future complete version this tool may well be of much help for organizations involved in organizational change projects.

Key words: organizational change, impact analysis, change process, leading change

    Abstract [en]

We investigate a generalization of one-parameter eigenvalue problems arising in the theory of wave propagation in waveguides filled with nonlinear media to more general nonlinear multi-parameter eigenvalue problems for a nonlinear operator. Using an integral equation approach, we derive functional dispersion equations (DEs) whose roots yield the desired eigenvalues. The existence of the roots of DEs is proved and their distribution is described.

Mathematical models for scattering and generation of plane wave packets on layered cubically polarisable structures2013In: Far East Journal of Applied Mathematics, ISSN 0972-0960, Vol. 81, no 1-2, p. 1-31Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The paper deals with different formulations of mathematical models for the analysis of processes of resonance scattering and generation of plane wave packets on isotropic, nonmagnetic, linearly polarised media with a nonlinear, layered dielectric structure of cubic polarisability. For each formulation, sufficient conditions for the existence and, partially, uniqueness of the corresponding solution are derived.

Eigenmodes of linearised problems of scattering and generation of oscillations on cubically polarisable layers2015In: Inverse Problems and Applications / [ed] Larisa Beilina, Springer-Verlag New York, 2015, Vol. 120, p. 67-80Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

In the frequency domain, the resonant properties of nonlinear structures are determined by the proximity of the scattering/generation frequencies of the nonlinear structures to the complex eigenfrequencies of the corresponding homogeneous linear spectral problems with the induced nonlinear permeability of the medium. Here the case of cubically polarisable, canalising, and decanalising layers is considered.

Namnbyten av företag: Varför och Hur?2007Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 points / 15 hpStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    • Sammanslagning/förvärv

    • Inträde på ny marknad

    • Förlorad rätt till varumärke

    • När varumärket har skadats

    Genom intervjuerna med våra fallföretag kom vi fram till att en av anledningarna till deras namnbyten var strävan efter synergi, speciellt när det gäller marknadsföringskostnader. Det finns inga modeller för hur ett företag ska gå tillväga vid ett namnbyte, men genom vår empiri drar vi slutsatsen att namnändringar går genom tre faser;

    1. Internkommunikation om namnbytet parallellt med att hitta och bestämma sig för ett namn.

    2. Externkommunikation om namnbytet parallellt med det praktiska arbetet.

    3. Fylla företaget med värden som man vill associeras med.
