Abstract [es]

Abstract [en]

This article addresses and analyses equity and global citizenship policies from a theoretical perspective, considering equity as a democratic principle par excellence and a principle of social justice. The 2030 Agenda promoted by the United Nations reflects it as one of the goals for sustainable development. Thus, equity in education is considered a fundamental common good for the development of sustainable citizenship based on a conception of global democracy and three-dimensional justice, according to the contributions of the American philosopher Nancy Fraser. However, it is the responsibility of nation-states to ensure equitable quality education for all citizens, despite its complexity, difficulties and challenges, not only at the local level, but also at the global level. This challenge implies considering equity as the backbone of a set of synergies and policies oriented towards democratization and respect for diversity, based on a conception of the commons and the commoning that considers educational equity as an objective to be developed in the process of implementing policies oriented towards the commons and commoning.
