Abstract [en]

In an increasingly digitalised society, the requirement for digital competence is increasing. Even though most individuals in Sweden use digital technology every day there are still those who are digitally excluded. Many of those who do not use digital technology are elderly. This puts them at risk of becoming digitally excluded which can have significant consequences on their everyday life. The aim of this study was to explore the strategies that are implemented by organisations that are working towards increasing digital inclusion among the elderly. To gain a deeper understanding a qualitative approach was used and semi-structured interviews were conducted.

The results showed that the organisations used different strategies to increase digital inclusion. They offer support to overcome obstacles that having limited digital competence can impose on everyday life, they work towards increasing digital competence and helping the elderly overcome fear. The results also showed that the organisations faced different challenges while working towards increasing digital inclusion among the elderly.
