The purpose of this study was to examine how social workers within the social serviceschildren- and youth units reason about and experience the usefulness of interventionslinked to green care. To achieve that aim, the following questions were asked: 1) Whatexperiences of and possibilities for interventions linked to green care are there in theworkplace?, 2) What benefits and difficulties do the social workers perceive to beconnected to the interventions? and 3) are the methods used in green care perceived tobe able to promote social workers occupational health, and if so in what way? In orderto gain access to the social workers reflections and experiences a qualitative approachwith semi-structured interviews were chosen. The collected data were then analyzedthrough thematic analysis and theory triangulation using theories that contained bothindividual evolutionary perspectives as well as sociological ones. The result showedthat the social workers perceived the interventions to be useful in their workplaces.They expressed a willingness to use the interventions to a greater extent and describedbenefits that they could have for both the children’s health and their own, benefits thatwere also linked to research. The result also revealed obstacles that could prevent theusability - the social workers work structure and a lack of knowledge about themethods. A lack of knowledge that also prevents a possible change on a largerecological level that may be needed towards a more sustainable social work.
