Teaching before and after the Covid-19 pandemy: An example from Sweden
University of Gävle, Faculty of Education and Business Studies, Department of Educational sciences, Educational science, Education.

Abstract [en]

This article presents an example of a shift in the approach to teaching, based on the years pre and post Covid-19. A breef outline of the Swedish school system, and how Sweden handled the pandemic, is presented as context. The main focus is the authors own experience from teaching in a Swedish gymnasium (grade 10-12) the years prior, during and after Covid, and the shift in teaching approach based on reflections on the teaching methods. The aim of the article is not to show “best practices” but merely to give an example of how one teacher adapted to the new situation and some thoughts for reflections on how technology can assist in this ever-changing activity we call teaching. The conclusion – if any – is a shift in approach to teaching where a purposeful use of technology can contribute to more actual teaching (i.e. time with students, effective feedback, building relations, etc.).
