Essay title:  A knowledge overview on social workers' psychosocial work environment

The purpose of this study is to explore the existing research on social workers' psychosocial work environment, and it aims to answer the following question: How does existing research describe social workers' psychosocial work environment with a particular focus on work-related stress and health problems, social support, as well as well-being and health? The theoretical perspectives used in the study are SOC (sense of coherence) and the Demand-Control-Support model and the method used is a knowledge overview. The study's results are in line with the current state of knowledge. This study shows that social workers experience work stress, high work demands, and workload; however, despite these challenges, they find meaning and well-being in the workplace. This indicates that even in a demanding work environment, social workers can discover a sense of purpose and satisfaction in their roles, which is crucial for their overall well-being. The importance of work control and various forms of social support in the workplace have been in focus in this study, as they can increase social workers' sense of comprehensibility and manageability of the work situation, despite the high work demands and work stress, making social workers feel meaningful and well-being. 

In summary, this study shows the duality of social workers' experiences in their role, that is, both work stress and high work demands but at the same time meaningfulness and well-being.  The emphasis in this study is on social workers' access to various forms of social support in the workplace, as it can reduce the stressful working conditions and the negative consequences of work stressors, enable professional development and increase the sense of well-being and meaningfulness.
