Bakgrund: 400 000 barn mellan 0–19 år i världen drabbas av cancersjukdom varje år. I Sverige erbjuds olika cancerbehandlingar i form av cytostatika, operationer, stamcellstransplantation, strålbehandling, immunterapi och precisionsmedicin. Sjuksköterskan har en bred roll inom cancervården. Det handlar om att kunna ge en personcentrerad och familjecentrerad vård, kunna samarbeta med andra yrkesprofessioner samt hantera och administrera läkemedel. När det gäller barn och ungdomar med cancer är det inte bara barnen det är fokus på utan även föräldrar och syskon till patienten. En till viktig aspekt inom den pediatriska cancervården är fertiliteten och hur risken för infertilitet ökar när barn och ungdomar får behandling mot sin cancer. Förutom det genomgår barn och ungdomar en hel del känslor relaterat till att få cancerbesked men även då de genomgår puberteten. Trots en hög överlevnad på 85% finns det de barn som övergår till den palliativa fasen. Syfte: Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda barn med cancersjukdom. Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie baserat på nio vetenskapliga studier. Huvudresultat: Sjuksköterskor upplever att kommunikationen och samarbetet är två av de största utmaningarna i arbetet som onkologisk pediatrisk sjuksköterska. Förutom kommunikationen och samarbetet med patienterna och föräldrarna var det även utmanande med andra yrkesprofessioner. Slutsats: Det var utmanande med kommunikationen och samarbetet i arbetslaget, med patienten och föräldrarna. Studien ger en inblick av sjuksköterskans erfarenheter av att arbeta med cancersjuka barn och deras omgivning. 

Background: 400,000 children between the ages of 0-19 in the world suffer from cancer every year. In Sweden, various cancer treatments are offered in form of cytostatic, operations, stem cell transplantation, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and precision medicine. The nurse has a broad role in cancer care. It is about being able to provide person-centred and family-centred care, being able to cooperate with other professions as well as manage and administer medicines. When it comes to children and adolescents with cancer, the focus is not only on the patient, but also on the parents and siblings. Another important aspect of pediatric cancer care is fertility and how the risk of infertility increases when patients receive treatment for their cancer. In addition to that, children and adolescents go through a lot of emotions related to receiving cancer news but also when they go through puberty. Despite a high survival rate of 85%, there are those children who transition to the palliative phase. Aim: Nurses’ experiences of caring for children with cancer disease. Method: A descriptive literature review based on nine scientific studies. Main results: Nurses experience that communication and collaboration are the biggest challenges when working as an oncology pediatric nurse. In addition, the communication and cooperation with the patients and parents was also challenging and with other professional professions. Conclusion: The communication and cooperation were challenging in the work team, with patients and parents. This study provides an insight into the nurse's experiences of working with children with cancer and their environment.
