From addiction to recovery : A literature review on the effects of drugs on health and health promotion in the workplace for young adults. (English)
Abstract [en]

This literature review investigates youth drug abuse and the strategies available to build resilience, prevent misuse, and support recovery through targeted interventions. By integrating theories such as social constructionism, empowerment, and critical theory, this study analyzes existing research findings to understand and enhance support strategies and programs that promote the health and well-being of young individuals. The study emphasizes that strong social bonds and robust support systems are essential for combating drug abuse and enhancing mental health. It also underscores the need to tailor interventions to the unique socio-cultural and economic contexts of youth.

Through a critical analysis, the study identifies information gaps and limited access to resources as significant barriers. Furthermore, the review discusses how integrated health strategies that combine behavioral health with primary care can optimize rehabilitation processes. This comprehensive review suggests continued research to investigate the long-term effects of implemented strategies. It also highlights the need for methodological innovations to increase the generalizability of research and reduce bias.

The study's conclusions offer insights that could help develop more inclusive and effective support programs for youth across diverse life environments.
