This study examined how football coaches experienced and applied their leadership and how their leadership is related to the Swedish Football Association's leadership training. The study intended to highlight Salutogenic Leadership as a useful theory for analyzing leadership in sports by comparing it with other leadership theories that were more commonly used in sports contexts. Using semi-structured in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the coaches' perceived leadership was examined and analyzed in relation to Salutogenic leadership, Transformational leadership, and how they acted to increase SOC (Sense of Coherence) in their players. The findings revealed that the coaches emphasized the importance of creating a safe and developing environment, strengthening the players' autonomy, and including them in decisions. The discussion emphasized that the coaches' perceived leadership should strengthen the players' sense of coherence through clear communication, individual support, and the creation of an inclusive team environment. Which could indicate that Salutogenic leadership could be a useful leadership theory in sports contexts and, more specifically, among senior soccer coaches.
