Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a prevalent pregnancy complication with profound implications for maternal and neonatal health and has become a global public health challenge. Its prevalence has been increasing worldwide over the past few years. The pooled prevalence of GDM is 14.8% in China. In order to better provide more targeted care to women with gestational diabetes, it is necessary to systematically understand the experiences of women with gestational diabetes.Aim: The aim was to describe the experience of pregnant women with GDM.Design: The authors have conducted a descriptive literature review.Methods: The authors used the database PubMed and WanFang to search for the required literature and compare the similarities and differences between the results of 11 selected articles and summarize them.Results: A total of 11 articles describing the experiences of women with GDM were included, and the results were divided into individual, social, environmental three categories.Conclusion: The behavior of pregnant women with GDM is dynamically affected by multi-dimensional factors, showing different physiological, psychological and social changes. Nurses should fully understand and master the characteristics of women with GDM and provide targeted nursing programs to improve the quality of nursing.
