Work from home and at work : The psychological challenges teams experience with hybrid work (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to investigate the psychological challenges that teams and their members experience with hybrid work. The study used a qualitative method and was conducted at a public sector organization in central Sweden. Data was collected through eight semi-structured interviews with employees in two different teams. The results showed that the main psychological challenges that teams experienced with hybrid work were related to social closeness, always being available, and communication among them. Team closeness decreased in a hybrid work environment, which the respondents believed made it harder to achieve psychological safety. They described feeling pressured to always be available for their colleagues when not working in the office. The communication worsened with hybrid work due to uncertainty about which communication channels should be used for what. The results show that the previously known challenges with remote work are not necessarily solved by a hybrid model and that new problems can arise that were not anticipated
