This study explores which factors influence the prevalence of violence, influence vulnerability to partner violence and the ability to leave abusive relationships. A narrative literature review of thirteen national and international studies and reports was conducted using thematic analysis. The findings show that violence in young people’s relationships is often normalized, gendered, and shaped by emotional, social, cultural, and digital factors. Youth primarily turn to informal networks for support, while adults and professionals often fail to recognize or respond to their experiences. Schools and homes, intended to be key support arenas, frequently fall short. The study highlights the need for preventive efforts that are adapted to young people’s living realities. Knowledge-based and norm-aware interventions within schools, social services, and civil society are essential to better identify, prevent, and respond to youth intimate partner violence
