Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study was to investigate how support measures in social work affect defectors' reintegration into society, focusing on the hindrances and contributions. Through a narrative review, two reports as well as six articles from Scopus and Web of Science were selected. The data was analyzed through narrative synthesis, ecological systems theory and dramaturgical theory. Results showed that support measures for defectors in the Nordic countries enable reintegration through interpersonal support, while also posing limitations due to lack of trust in authorities, structural barriers and unequal gender-based support. Based on the results, there is a need for long-term and knowledge-based social work to foster support measures that balance the needs of defectors and society's responsibility. The study shows that support measures are complex, offering both hindrances and contributions. It highlights the need for further research within the Nordic context to improve the conditions for defectors’ reintegration into society.
