Abstract [sv]

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka sambandet mellan autentiskt ledarskap och upplevd utbrändhet (utmattning, cynism och känsla av otillräcklighet) bland fastighetsmäklare i Sverige. Målet är att klargöra den potentiella rollen som autentiskt ledarskap kan ha för att förebygga utbrändhet inom denna yrkesgrupp.

Studien bygger på ett kvantitativt angreppssätt och genomfördes via en strukturerad enkätundersökning. Svarsfrekvensen var cirka 30,16 procent. Den insamlade datan analyserades med hjälp av deskriptiv statistik, korrelationsanalyser och faktoranalys i statistikprogrammet JASP.

Resultaten visar på ett signifikant negativt samband mellan upplevt autentiskt ledarskap och upplevd utbrändhet bland anställda. Autentiskt ledarskap tycks fungera som en skyddande faktor genom att främja en arbetsmiljö präglad av tillit och stöd. Baserat på det begränsade urvalet och studiens metodologiska utformning kan det indikeras att ledarskapsutveckling med fokus på autenticitet kan ha en förebyggande effekt på utbrändhet bland fastighetsmäklare i liknande kontext.

Studien adresserar ett identifierat forskningsgap genom att undersöka kopplingen mellan autentiskt ledarskap och utbrändhet inom den svenska fastighetsbranschen. Studien ger indikationer som kan bidra till fortsatt teoretisk diskussion och inspirera till praktiska överväganden inom branschen, men resultaten bör tolkas i ljuset av studiens explorativa karaktär och begränsade generaliserbarhet.

Framtida studier bör inkludera ett bredare urval av anställda, såsom deltidsarbetare och individer i olika stadier av karriären. Vidare rekommenderas en fördjupad undersökning av regionala och organisatoriska variationer. Kvalitativa metoder kan ge djupare insikt i hur autentiskt ledarskap uppfattas i praktiken. Vidare kan empirisk jämförelse mellan servant leadership och autentiskt ledarskap, två välmåendeorienterade men skilda ledarstilar, ge ökad förståelse för deras påverkan på individ och organisation. 

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived burnout (exhaustion, cynicism, and feeling of inadequacy) among real estate agents in Sweden. The aim is to clarify the potential role that authentic leadership may have in preventing burnout within this professional group. This research adopts a quantitative approach and was conducted through a structured survey. The response rate of approximately 30,16 percent. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive analysis, correlation analyses, and factor analysis in the statistical software JASP.

The findings reveal a significant negative correlation between perceived authentic leadership and employee burnout. Authentic leadership appears to function as a protective factor by fostering a work environment characterized by trust and support. Given the limited sample and methodological design of the study, the results suggest that leadership development focused on authenticity may help prevent burnout among real estate brokers in similar contexts.

This thesis addresses an identified research gap by exploring the link between authentic leadership and burnout in the Swedish real estate sector. The findings provide insights that may contribute to continued theoretical discussion and inspire practical considerations within the industry. However, the results should be interpreted with caution due to the exploratory nature of the study and its limited generalizability.

Future studies should include a broader sample of employees, such as part-time workers and individuals at different career stages. Further investigation into regional and organizational variations is recommended. Qualitative methods could offer deeper insight into how authentic leadership is perceived in practice. Additionally, an empirical comparison between servant leadership and authentic leadership, two well-being-oriented yet distinct leadership styles, could enhance understanding of their respective impacts on individuals and organizations.
