Post-violence - when freedom is denied : A literature review on women's experiences of post-violence. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Despite the end of the relationship, power, control, fear, and vulnerability remain through post-violence, an invisible bond between woman and perpetrator. This study aimed to explore how women who have experienced violence define and describe post-violence. A limited scoping literature review was conducted using two databases (Scopus and Web of Science), resulting in the inclusion of six qualitative international studies. Data were analysed using thematic analysis and narrative synthesis, with the normalization process and intersectional perspective as theoretical frameworks. The main findings indicate that post-violence primarily takes the form of psychological abuse, with three new tactics identified: using children as leverage, legal system abuse, and violence by proxy. The study demonstrates that violence often persists in new forms after separation, affecting women's health and daily lives, and highlights the need for society to address postviolence as well as violence within relationships.
