Abstract [en]

This study delves into how internal communication between warehouse, production and purchasing can provide conditions for warehouse efficiency. Communication between departments related to warehouse has been investigated at the case company Cibes Lift in Gävle. The company is experiencing challenges within the company's current warehouse management, which is based on the fact that the company currently lacks an effective communication routine between the company's warehouse, production and purchasing departments.

The purpose of the study is to analyze how internal communication between warehouse, production and purchasing can provide the conditions for warehouse efficiency. The study consists of a qualitative case study in the form of primary data collected via four interviews and an observation in the case company's warehouse premises. The observation with the associated interview was carried out physically while the rest was carried out remotely. In addition to this, the study consists of a literature study in the form of data collection from scientific journals, course literature and public company information.

The result highlights that the existing internal communication within Cibes Lift between departments is deficient and affects warehouse efficiency. This is based on the existing routine for information transfer between departments. The deficient communication affects warehouse efficiency in the form of increased inventory levels, reduced storage locations and increased warehousing costs. Effective internal communication between departments promotes efficiency within the warehouse, which leads to reduced challenges related to the warehouse.

What the study has concluded is that an effective routine for information transfer between warehouse and purchasing promotes efficiency within the warehouse. What the study also concludes in contrast to this is that lack of information sharing about the importance of specific components leads to inefficiency. By implementing clear communication channels, information about the importance of specific components, stock levels, inventory management can be communicated clearly. Consequently, it is concluded that proactive and transparent information transfer between departments is significant in achieving efficiency related to the warehouse.
