Syftet med denna uppsats var att undersöka vilka likheter och skillnader som finns mellan Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heligas och Svenska kyrkans ledarskapsstrukturer. Huvudfrågan i uppsatsen är vilka likheter och skillnader det finns inom ledarskapsstruktuerna mellan Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heliga och Svenska kyrkan? För att besvara frågeställningen används en kvalitativ textanalys med inriktning mot tematisk analys. Det material som uppsatsen använder i form av de två kyrkornas webbsidor, litteratur och tidigare forskning har därigenom analyserats genom en kvalitativ textanalys. En tematisk analys har också applicerats genom ett kodschema för att identifiera mönster av likheter och skillnader mellan de två kyrkornas ledarskapsstrukturer. Efter att mönster har lokaliserats genom kodschemat har de analyserats genom Max Webers teori om tre typer av auktoriteter för att undersöka vad som gör olika ledare i de två kyrkorna legitima. Uppsatsens resultat indikerar att det finns en stor skillnad mellan ledarskapstrukturerna i Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heliga och Svenska kyrkan. Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heliga har ett centraliserat och hierarkiskt ledarskap med högsta auktoriteterna i Salt Lake City. Svenska kyrkan har däremot en demokratisk och episkopal struktur med kyrkoval där kyrkans medlemmar kan rösta fram förtroendevalda som ska leda kyrkan på nationell, regional och lokal nivå. Kyrkomötet är det högsta beslutande organet inom Svenska kyrkan och ärkebiskopen är kyrkans främsta representant. Den enda likheten som återfanns mellan ledarskapsstrukturerna i Jesu Kristi Kyrka av Sista Dagars Heliga och Svenska kyrkan är hur medlemmarna i de två kyrkorna antar olika ledarroller.

The purpose of this essay was to examine the similarities and differences in leadership structure between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church of Sweden. The focus of this essay has been deliberately delimited to encompass the leadership structure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church of Sweden. The main question in the essay is what similarities and differences are there within the leadership structures between the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church of Sweden? To answer the question, has qualitative text analyses been used to analyze textual material in the form of the two churches websites, literature and previous teachers on the leadership in the two churches. A thematic analysis has been carried out through a coding scheme to identify patterns of similarities and differences between the two churches. After the patterns have been located through the coding scheme have they been analyzed through Max Weber's theory of three types of authorities to search for what makes leaders in the two churches legitimate. The results of the essay indicate that there is a major difference between the leadership structure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church of Sweden.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a centralized and hierarchical structure leadership with the highest authority in Salt Lake City. In contrast, the Church of Sweden has a democratic and episcopal structure, with church electrons where members of the church can vote for elected officials who will lead the church at national, regional and local levels. The church assembly is the highest decision-making authority within the Church of Sweden and the archbishop is the Church's foremost representative. The only similarity found between the leadership structures of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church of Sweden is how members of the two churches assume different leadership roles.
