Personal Work-Identity: A Comparison Between Teachers and Retail Workers Controlling for Time in the Profession. (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of the study was to investigate whether there are differences between teachers and retail workers in terms of personal work-identity. The study was based on a quantitative design, and data were collected through a digital survey completed by 127 participants. The results were analyzed using a Multivariate ANalysis of COVAriance (MANCOVA), which revealed that teachers have a stronger personal work-identity than retail workers in both the emotional and cognitive bond when controlling for time in the profession. Finally, the results indicate that occupations with socially important roles, such as teaching, contribute to a stronger personal work-identity.
