Abstract [sv]

Abstract

This study analyses Furuviks crisis communication during the chimpanzee incident in December 2022, focusing om the organisations communication through Instagram and statements I traditional media. Using a qualitative content analysis combined with rhetorical analysis, the study examines how Furuvik employed various communication strategies to manage the crisis. The results, based on the theoretical framework, reveal a clear and progressive communication strategy, starting with informing about the incident and later emphasizing accountability, safety measures, and recovery. The tone throughout was serious and empathetic, aimed at rebuilding public trust. The study highlights similarities and differences between social media and traditional media communication, as well as how linguistic and visual expressions were used to influence audience perception. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Furuviks communication strategies during the crisis.
