Abstract [en]
This study aims to explore how various organizational factors influence decisionmaking within a small transport company based in Gävle. Through a case study of Gävle Fjärrfrakt, the analysis focuses on how elements such as leadership, organizational structure, culture, emotional influences, and cognitive biases affect both strategic and operational decisionmaking.
The study was conducted using an abductive approach, combining empirical data from site visits and semi-structured interviews with relevant theoretical frameworks to address the research questions.
The findings indicate that several organizational components play a significant role in the decision-making process. In particular, the distribution of responsibilities and internal communication are identified as key factors. Additionally, perceptions of a situation and the structure of decisions are often influenced by prior experiences and emotions. The study also highlights that quick decisionmaking often requires flexibility and clearly defined routines to ensure effective implementation.
Based on the findings, the study suggests that the company could strengthen its decision-making processes by clarifying roles and responsibilities, improving communication, and considering the use of technical tools to support daily workflows.
