Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In recent years diagnoses of ADHD among women have increased significantly. Despitethis, research on their experiences in working life remains limited, especially withinsocial work. This study explores the challenges women with ADHD face in workinglife, using qualitative semi-structured interviews with four diagnosed women. Athematic analysis, informed by intersectionality and coping theory, identified four mainthemes: challenges in working life, balancing work and private life, workplace support, and late diagnosis with gender-specific aspects. Findings reveal difficulties with socialinteractions, concentration, workplace norms and environmental aspects. Participantsalso report exhaustion and imbalance between professional and personal life. Latediagnoses and stereotypes contribute to a lack of understanding and support in botheducation and employment. Using an intersectional lens, the study highlights howgender and neurodevelopmental factors interact. The results underline the need forgreater awareness, individualized support and structural workplace changes to improveconditions for women with ADHD.
