Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Research has shown that an inadequate psychosocial work environment could lead to stress, reduced job satisfaction, and burnout. While risk factors in the psychosocial work environment had been extensively studied, knowledge about what was perceived as strengthening remained limited. The purpose of this study was to explore social workers' experiences of a health-promoting psychosocial work environment. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews, with seven participants, all of whom worked within financial assistance. A thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns in the collected data. The results showed that collegial support, an open work climate, support from management, and opportunities for recovery were important factors for promoting health in daily work. The findings also indicated that experiences of workload varied. This variation suggested that the health-promoting factors in the work environment not only needed to be present, but also accessible and adapted to the individual´s needs.
