Abstract [en]

This thesis explores how a circular business model for additive manufacturing can be implemented in the industry by repairing machining tools instead of discarding them. By using additive manufacturing, specifically powder bed fusion in metal, tools can be repaired, reducing the need for new production. The project is conducted for Seco Tools and in collaboration with RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), and includes research, interviews with both manufacturers and customers, as well as a design process that resulted in a repair focused business model. The main focus is to understand the needs of both the customer and the manufacturer and to develop a functional system that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.
