Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka de strukturella hinder och utmaningar, som framgår av glaslabyrintens teori och hindrar kvinnor från att både avancera i sin karriärutveckling och att nå ledarpositioner inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen i Sverige. 

Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod och har en deduktiv ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer med kvinnliga fastighetsmäklare och franchisetagare. 

Resultat och slutsats: Kvinnors karriärvägar inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen präglas av hinder, men att branschens utveckling mot ökad jämställdhet har förbättrat möjligheterna över tid. Slutsatsen är att fastighetsmäklarbranschen erbjuder förutsättningar för kvinnors karriärutveckling. 

Examensarbetets bidrag: Vår studie breddar förståelsen av glaslabyrinten i fastighetsmäklarbranschen och lyfter fram både kvarlevande hinder och ökade möjligheter för kvinnligt ledarskap. 

Förslag till framtida forskning: Vi föreslår framtida forskning som fokuserar på karriärstrategier hos kvinnor som har avancerat inom fastighetsmäklarbranschen, kompletterat med jämförande studier av manliga perspektiv och studier som undersöker regionala skillnader. Detta för att fördjupa förståelsen av karriärhinder och främja jämställdhet och inkludering inom branschen. 

Aim: The aim of this study is to explore the structural barriers and challenges outlined in the theory of the glass labyrinth, which impede women´s career advancement and their attainment of leadership positions within the Swedish real estate brokerage industry.

Method: The study is based on a qualitative method and follows a deductive approach, using semi-structured interviews with female estate agents and leaders. 

Results and conclusion: Women's career paths in the real estate brokerage industry are shaped by barriers, but the industry's development towards greater gender quality has improved opportunities over time. The conclusion is that the real estate brokerage industry offers conditions that support women's career advancement. 

Contribution of the thesis: This study expands the understanding of the glass labyrinth within the real estate brokerage sector, emphasizing the persistence of structural barriers while also highlighting emerging opportunities for women's leadership advancement. 

Suggestion for future research: We propose future research focusing on the career strategies of women who have advanced within the real estate brokerage industry, complemented by comparative studies on male perspectives and regional differences. To deepen the understanding of career barriers and promote equity and inclusion within the sector.
