Abstract [en]

In the last recent years, it has appeared that many fresh educated journalists have left their desired workstations to start working with content. Are there any particular reasons behind this? This study will focus on the minds of journalist students of how much they are keen on making a career in content instead of representing a typical news office. This study has conducted a qualitative interview approach where the method will primarily be including students at both universities of Stockholm and Uppsala.

Essentially, this study will help us understand how the media industry has changed and how the work market will develop in the upcoming years. Does traditional journalism need to redefine itself by us learning more about the profession? A critical content analysis will also be applied within this study to reach its purpose and discussion.

This study suggested that there might not be a specific reason why journalist students might have the intention to start working with content after their graduation. Plenty of signs seem to include the differential change of journalism and the digital circumstance; obviously there might be cases where its beneficial both financially and by availability. This hypothesis comes mostly through the content analysis of this study and by the material that has been provided by the different expertise within this field.
