Abstract [sv]
Syntronic is a company that develops, produces, and provides support for technical products, with a key focus on testing hardware in simulated environments before delivery to customers. To achieve this, test plans are created to define the order in which tests are executed. Creating test plans requires programming skills, which limits the ability for individuals with domain knowledge but no coding experience to contribute. The study aims to develop a no-code platform to simplify the creation of test plans and to evaluate both its technical functionality and the user experience of the target audience.
The study followed design science methodology, an iterative research method in which an artifact is developed and scientifically evaluated in four steps. The method involves requirement gathering, analysis of existing solutions, development of a prototype, and evaluation. Due to the limited timeframe of ten weeks, the study was divided into two iterations, enabling improvements of the prototype based on insights from the first iteration.
The artifact was evaluated by test subjects from Syntronic through usability testing, where data was collected via observation, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews to gain both quantitative and qualitative insights into the user experience.
The final evaluation showed that a no-code platform can be technically designed to effectively support the creation of test plans, while users found the platform accessible and user-friendly. The results indicated a need for improved design to enhance clarity and flexibility. The platform represents an important step toward more inclusive and sustainable test development, though continued work and research are needed to further refine it.
