Syftet med studien var att beskriva anestesisjuksköterskors kunskaper och rutiner för positionering och mobilisering under operationer med en anestesitid över 3 timmar. Studien genomfördes som en kvantitativ enkätundersökning, med en kvalitativ aspekt. Data insamlades genom en enkät som lämnades ut till samtliga anestesisjuksköterskor på ett länssjukhus och ett länsdelssjukhus i Mellansverige. Resultatet visade att ca hälften av respondenterna önskar sig mer kunskap om vikten av positionering för att kunna förebygga skador. Anestesisjuksköterskor som ansåg sig ha tillräckliga kunskaper om positionering undersöker oftare patientens hudstatus inför en längre operation. Det anestesisjuksköterskorna uppgav att de utför under långa operationer för att förebygga postoperativa skador var: gymnastik/rörelser, massage, lägesändringar, lägeskontroll och övrigt tryckförebyggande. Fler respondenter med lång yrkeserfarenhet upplevde att det finns tid att undersöka en patientens hudstatus inför en längre operation. Länssjukhusets anestesisjuksköterskor byter oftare finger för saturationsmätaren och upplever ett bättre samarbete med övriga i operationsteamet. Slutsatsen är att det kan behövas ytterligare kunskap och omvårdnadsrutiner för att minska risken för postoperativa skador i samband med kirurgisk positionering.

The aim of present study was to describe anaesthetic nurse's knowledge about and procedures used for positioning and mobilization during surgery where anesthesia prolonged for a longer period than 3 hours. Data were collected by a questionnaire, to all anaesthetic nurses at two different Swedish hospitals. The results showed that approximately half of the respondents would like to have more knowledge about positioning in order to prevent injuries. The anaesthetic nurses that more frequently examined the patient's skin condition before extended surgery, also showed more confidence in the subject of positioning. The results also showed that the anaesthetic nurses used physical exercises, massage, change of position and other preventative measures concerning pressure adjustments in order to avoid postoperative injuries. An additional part of the respondents with more professional experience had more time to examine a patient's skin condition prior to extended surgery. The anaesthetic nurses at one of the hospital changed the finger for the pulseoxymeter more frequently; they also experienced better teamwork within the operating team. The conclusion is that there might be a need for more knowledge about positioning to reduce the risk of postoperative injures due to skin or nerve pressure during extended surgery.
